Simple question, JC Conner or “flat stock” double stake swivels. What and why. I currently use the stamped out ones, but was going to try the JC Conners if there sturdy. 123 GO!

Conner's are plenty sturdy. They also add options the flat stock dose not. It is much easier to add a cable tie off or a quicklink and drag with chain. I have grown quite fond of the chestnut rings and replaced all of the flat stock doubles I had.

I used to use three lap links with the trap chain attached to the middle one. Option of single or double or cable at the set.

My double stake butter fly type staking devises are made of heavier material then the ones you can buy and the holes are a bit bigger. With the holes being a bit bigger you get less re bar hang ups when driving in the stakes.

I hadn’t thought of the ease it would be to add a cable to the end in certain scenarios that I run into here. There are many instances that ive had to slink away from what seemed like a perfect set because i cannot get a anchor in the ground, where as I could use a drag and or cable around a post with the Conners. Well played sir...

Seeing that my staking devises are built with a heavier material I have no problems hooking up a drag to that butter fly devise. Just run my quick link through the stake hole and your good to go..

Yeah I have done that also Beav, im just broadening my options is all. Plus it really bothers me to attach just to one side of the butterfly style, not that it is wrong just bugs me. Kinda like having the toilet paper roll off the top side of the roll not the bottom lol...

Then a guy should go out and buy some chain. Cut It so you have 3 links and then take and drive a tapered punch though the two end ones to open them up so you can drive your stakes through.

It would be nice to have access to all the fancy goodies you get. Free mostly too if I remember correctly.

Yep I'm very lucky.

Back when I was 40 and the neighbor kid was 13 I took him under my wing and acted like his dad. His mother told me several times I saved him from going down the wrong path.

The young mans dad was a workaholic and built this business from scratch and turned In to a money maker and the 4 boys worked and kept It going.

Now that young man Is taking care of the beav like I was his dad and I appreciate It. He even gutted and dragged out my deer last year. He's kind of like the son I never had.

Maybe you should take it easy on him. Based on your age now, he's got to be in his mid 70's by now. laugh
