Haha, we call them gackies at camp. We pronounce it gauk-eyes.

Wow, two days to go seven hundred miles? You must be retired! The drive to Wy where I trapped for years was 830 miles and took about 11 1/2 hours, and was an easy drive in one day! grin

Let me tell you about Gulo's driving habits.

He & I left his place in separate vehicles heading for the grocery store in Salmon, ID. He left a bit before me.

On the road I passed him.... pulled over with binos to his eyes.......watching two adult sandhills making a nest in a little swamp.
I went on to town.

Did my shopping and started back to the ranch. About 12 miles down the road there he is, pulled over again.

This time he has his little yellow Write-in-the-Rain note book in one hand and is measuring a dead snake laying in the in the road.

I finally got back to the ranch and finished building his house. I'm still not sure when he ever got back home !

Thanks for giving the explanation, White. On the recent catfishing trip, I did get 33 snake observations of 5 species. Yeah, had to stop for each and every one of them, measure, weigh, and release 'em. Tallied almost 4000 birds of 48 different species. The mammals list was less exciting, but all had to be written in my little notebook along the way. Exhausting trip.... Oh, yeah. Thanks for building my house while I was on my 50-mile round-trip to town.

On the other hand, Lee, it was a fishing trip. I had to spend part of that two days fishing...

Excellent i like the sign, when i would ride bus to work the boulder side a house had all sorts of political signs, go home signs, ect. Looks the type of place to not stop at.
But had to if you wanted to hunt, camp ,fish the public lands behind his closed gates .
Was a good guy really, or was to me anyway.
Didn't mind all the extra mine traffic even, just don't take his freedoms away.

Let me sugar coat this
