Its going on here also. Just to hard on people. Even with solo drivers now doing almost all short haul (less than 700 miles) and coming home on the weekend, their "weekend" is usually only 36 hours. Companies are forced to hire whoever shows up that can pass a physical and a drug screen.

Steel wheels on steel rails are certainly energy efficient. Railroad companies build, own, maintain, and pay property taxes on their railroads. But local pickup and delivery by rail is out of the question.

Trucking ain't for everyone, but there is money to be made even with the asinine regulations we have today.
The days of running two log books are gone, but running as a team can make some money for the couple.
