Her nomination, now, shortly before the election, is the result of dirty, dishonest, dishonorable politics by the GOP.
But I think the Dems are going to have a hard time bringing her down as a candidate.
Jim In 2016, Ginsburg's position was that nominations prior to an election should be made. The term of the president doesn't stop short because it's an election year.

Judge Barrett is fairly moderate. In normal times, the democrats would barely challenge her. Her life is likely going to truly suck very soon as the democrats evilly try to destroy her and her family. I hope she comes through intact.
Keith I have no documentation but it is my understanding that she is very pro 2nd From talking to my 2A lawyer friend and from what I've read about her she is a strong 2A supporter. She's probably going to be the strongest 2A supporter on the court assuming she is confirmed. My primary reason for voting for Trump was my hope that he would appoint conservative federal judges to the many seats left vacant by Obama. I haven't been disappointed.

Actually, that was my initial stance also. I didn't care if he sat at his desk for 4 years as long as we got a conservative on that court. Three is a dream. That being said, he has accomplished so much more in his first term and although I do not agree with all of his decisions, I do agree with about 90% of them. I think he has been an excellent president. People that don't either are not paying attention, hate just for hate or are leftist themselves.

It's not just SCOTUS judges Finster although they're obviously very important. He has also appointed and had confirmed 218 Article III federal judges including the two SCOTUS picks. We have recently seen some of the favorable rulings of those appointments/confirmations.
I have no idea why Obama left so many seats vacant. My best guess is that he thought Clinton was a shoe-in and may have been under orders to leave them for her. Either that or laziness.

Oh, I'm well aware believe me. I've been watching very closely. He almost has the 9th circuit turned around also. He needs 4 more years. This election is beyond important. Not for just Trump but we need to keep the senate and get the house. We had the chance in 2016 but the RINO's screwed us. 4 More years and heck, maybe we can buy suppressors and full auto's off the shelf again. Not to mention a firm stacking of conservatives that will interpret the constitution and not make legislation from the bench.

Thank Mitch McConnell. "McConnell confirmed the fewest judges since President Truman during Obama's last two years in office," said Christopher Kang, who vetted judicial nominees in the Obama White House. "So the reason President Trump had 200 judgeships to fill in the first place is because McConnell obstructed." Obama made the nominations, but McConnell kept them from being confirmed to wait for a Republican — in Trump — whose campaign the Senate majority leader then carried out with zeal, Kang said.

To buy auto's and suppressors off the shelf again, will take a repeal of the NFA by congress and senate. The supreme's have already decided the law is constitutional. I doubt any of them vote to overturn an old court decision. Same with Roe V Wade. Only that will take a constitutional amendment now. Something I don't see happening.
Big R promised us that suppressors would be removed from the NFA list. We need to remind them of that. Often.

Interesting Dirt. I was not aware of that but it makes a great deal of sense. And I do "thank" Mitch McConnell.

Used in place of ear muffs or plugs Hobbie. They are so simple to make that anyone wanting a few for nefarious purpose already has them. Just like auto's.

What are suppressors used for? Does it matter. I purchased mine for hunting and shooting. Being on the NFA makes them exponentially more expensive then that would be, I'd venture at least triple.

What are suppressors used for? 1. Hearing protection 2. Abatement of noise pollution 3. Shooting in sensitive environments 4. Nuisance Wildlife and Pest Control Are the first four off the top of my head. Suffice it to say there are a multitude of legitimate reasons for their use. BTW, you got a muffler on your car? Same basic technology invented by the same man Hiram Maxim.

Barrett looks like a qualified nominee, but so did Obama's nominee--who at least deserved an up or down vote.
