Oh yeah, don't go in debt by buying things you can't afford. Or don't need. Without debt, how would money be created? BTW any of you guys that think you aren't in debt must have missed the almost 27 trillion dollar and rapidly expanding US debt. That is 81,000 per citizen or better yet 214,000 per taxpayer. Figure in state and local debt plus unfunded liabilities and Mama Mia.

The problem is that the middle class has in most cases just given away the money to the richest of the rich voluntarily. They do it through interest mostly, buying dang near everything on credit these days, and the fact that both parents must work to make ends meet. In 1975 I'll bet it was less than 25% of families had two incomes, but today, it's nearly 100%. Guess what, you're not better off with two incomes, you just have more stuff and are making less money per person. This is why the middle class is disappearing. The poor are always going to be there because for the most part they aren't willing to do what it takes to get out of poverty, especially when they can live off the government at just above poverty level. As long as we give hand-outs instead of hand-ups, there will always be a huge load of people willing to sit back and just get by with what they can get for free. The ultra rich 1% is more than willing to take advantage of the situation that people want stuff now and are willing to donate a lot of their paycheck in interest to get what they want now instead of working for it over time. When was the last time you heard the term "Starter house" and can you imagine what a new car would cost if you couldn't borrow money to buy one? Think about that. People give hundreds of thousands of dollars to colleges that don't really help them get ahead and then pay for it for years and years. It's crazy. People need to stop blaming the rich, and stop blaming how much the rich are taxed, and make better choices for themselves. I think your right on there Bernie.

No Blaine, go back and read the original post......the answer is yes, we are working harder for less money today. Wages have remained stagnant while cost of living has gone up. There are many people making a good wage, so they don't understand as their lifestyle is different. For most the population, that's not the case. This has nothing to do with the way they spend their money and how they live. Its just about wage and income. The other is a different topic all together. People succeed when (1) they are willing to work hard and (2) they don't expect to be given anything. They earn it. You have the same opportunities as anyone else. Stop expecting a higher wage to be given to you or anyone else. Go earn it. Oh yeah, don't go in debt by buying things you can't afford. Or don't need. No one said anything about expecting a higher wage. All that is said is it takes more today to make the same money that was made in the past. Its just a fact. Nothing mote, nothing less.

Most rich guys can't set the hook. Money can't buy everything. Sure can't buy fishing skills. Even the ones that went to Orvis school.

Used to be we had a huge, hard working and fairly well paid blue collar work force in this country. People lived within their means and the mothers stayed home and raised kids for the most part. This country was a very stable place. Today we are so far from that it is like the difference between a dark night and bright daylight.
The wealthy got richer by sending jobs overseas and we convinced our kids who were schooled by others in the earlier grades to get a college degree and the colleges finished the socialist indoctrination. Today the almighty dollar is foremost in everyone's mind......they want it given to them or want to 'earn' it as e-z as possible. Everyone wants to own much more than they would ever need and 'bigger' stuff than they really need for what they do. House with 2 people living in it could house 6 easily. The country is destined for a huge fall, it is unavoidable and a matter of when not 'if'.
I could go on and on about all the bad changes we have had in our society........but y'all get my drift by now or your dumber than a post and me saying more will not help you understand......

I certainly don't think that taxing the high income individuals at a higher rate is the correct thing to do. I think everyone, poor and rich, should pay the exact same percent of taxes; especially if the government is going to continue to base it off income.
However, I do think that this country would be a lot better off from the bottom up if we had many, many, more millionaires and even more 500K-750K folks. A handful of multi-billionaires is not good in my opinion. But now you're talking about limiting capitalism which then leans towards communism. Sort of.

Some people make a lot of money doing things nobody else is willing to do.
Some people complain about them instead of finding their own niche and making some money of their own.
Fact
Leftlane sayeth.................... I personally know two men very well who have 8th grade education and they are millionnaires. Being smart and making good decisions help a lot. Not everybody makes good decisions. Myself included. But I'm not blaming anybody else.

My mind keeps pondering the message Mike Huckabee brought to us at church yesterday; he said in his view having spent much time around the politically connected in AR and WDC, but having spent his childhood in Hope, AR chasing chickens for a dollar, America as the nation was founded, and has grown like none other in history, because of what he called the 3 "C's." Christianity, capitalism, and Constitution.
He said the last 60 years have seen a full scale, all out, no-holds barred declaration of war on all three. The 1950 Communist manifesto written to bring down this nation from within had these 3 C's listed front and center.
Christians and their God stand in the way of true freedom. Capitalism is evil and unfair. the Constitution is a work by religious idiots who believed in stupid bigoted Godly principles of individual freedoms from a mythical genie and that all who understand know that a collective of people is the truth. Individual liberty is evil. The collective is fair and good.
Donna and I went out for a good burger and a brew after Mr. Huckabee's message (although we ended with a message of Hope... and he said, not his home town!) We both needed it.
Blessings, Mark

Who are the leaders of this "turn the U.S. communist" plot? I want to know who is behind the curtain. Who it is that intends to profit and gain power over others? Soros is old. Won't live much longer. There must be others.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Almost too many to be named, Danny. Soros has a son, who will certainly step into his shoes. Most on the left, starting with the top guns in the legislatures, the college presidents, their water carriers, professors and on down the pike to the local polititians who compose the left. If this country ever switches over, they will all be cutting each others throat to be the head cheese! The good thing is, they don't believe in guns!
