Should have opened with his closing statements about frivolous gungrabbing lawsuits killing a 200 year old company. It would have been worthy of sharing broadly. As it is, very few will watch to the end. Thanks for sharing.

The lawsuit was just the straw that broke the camels back. The whole group management group that included remington was mismanaged for years. A case of wall street takeovers and milking it for everything it can without focusing on core product and customer.

I agree straw that broke the camel's back

they seemed hung up on the 700 line which was good but not enough

the 870 line ,

they they started competing with themselves H&R partner pump the metric 870 express

they kept trying to break into the handgun market but didn't really seem to listen to the market

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

JMO, but they should've long ago shed themselves of all but the core production of 700/870/11-87 and ammunition lines and focused on the most profitable lines. You can't keep bleeding off capital to chase niche or emerging markets if the base isn't solid. And we should all know the traditional walnut and blued steel for the wool plaid hunter market is not what it once was.
However, the 700/870 with their long acceptance in the mil/leo markets should've been where they focused rather than chasing the bushmaster/ACC and other lines.

Our Governor Andrew Cuomo and the Liberal Democratic NYS Senate & Assembly
playing a major role in killing Remington with the NYS SAFE ACT.

Outlawing AR-15's and their variants in New York State was a big hit to the company.

A couple thousand Remington Machinists lost their jobs over the last 10 years,
and another 700 will be lost now.

The Towns of Illion, Mohawk, Frankfort, Herkimer, and Little Falls in Herkimer County
will be ghost towns thanks to Andrew Cuomo.

Sad.

A lot of companies have file for bankruptcy, most have been down for a while and reemerged after a chapter 11 filing. I guess I never really thought they would totally rip the company apart. I know they do that but I just didn't really think it would happen.

How does a gun/ammo company go bankrupt in times like these where the demand for their products is so high ?

Remington Firearms - The Roundhill Group, LLC - primary bidder; Huntsman Holdings, LLC, backup bidder

Sounds like Roundhill Group is a real estate investment group. The internet speculation is that the properties and separated assets have value and that Remington in NY will be liquidated further under Roundhills ownership. On the surface it seems unlikely that they are interested in firearm production.

Perhaps they ought to take the hint and move to a place where they are more welcome?

They had already started that process with the move to Arkansas and Alabama.

Many of the core group of Remington Machinists with 20 to 30 years or
more of experience in quality firearms manufacturing balked at moving
south in order to retain their positions.

Thats one reason that the quality and workmanship in Remington products
took such a hit when they gave those jobs to southern rebels !!! laugh

Hopefully Marlin's new ownership will bring back quality in their levergun lineup.

On another note, Ithaca Gun Company isn't making guns now either. Can't get any information out of the women that answers their phone occasionally. Was interested in possibly ordering a new pump shotgun, but I'm not about to put any money down on a new Model 37 unless I know they're filling orders.

Couple of questions:

1. What does this mean for people that have guns they sent back to Remington for Repairs covered under the Warranty ? Do they get the guns repaired ? Will they even get their guns back ?

2. Custom shop work ? will it get completed , or are the customers out of luck?

3 . Parts availability ?

I've noticed Ithaca reports everything out of stock. I had hoped that was just the panic buying. I hope they're not going under again.

New York Governor Cuomo bears a lot of the blame. He is as anti gun as they come. He sneaked through the "safe Act" in the dark of night and had much to do with the destruction of Remington.
He is running the state broke. How many people died because of his Covid_- 19 decrees? It is not Remington that should go, it is Cuomo!
