earlier this month the big spike here was Graduated spring 2020 football player had a 200+ person birthday party the Saturday before school started and the who's who of area highschool football players and other football adjacent juniors , seniors and recently graduated were there.

I think they decided the final number was around 40 cases at the high school directly related to that party or more than 10% of the students.

so they went for 3 7/8 days of in person school before the outbreak really hit and the closed school early the Friday before labor day then 2 weeks of online from home school now they are going to 2 days in person alternating.

since I know the mother of the co-worker of the young man who held the party also caught it from her son , I assume many of the active cases are secondary from the 40 some sick kids.

seeing as the next weekend was labor day and there were crowds all over that probably is part of it also

hopefully as we get into the cold and wet rainy days of October things will slow down.

so much of the outbreak around her has been linked to parties of people who just didn't want to not party any more so they rolled the dice then some of them who were known carriers had to be given warning they were on quarantine and could not go out to local restaurants and go in and eat.

2 of the waitresses at the restaurant my son was working at also got covid from that party owner handled it real well (not) it was the straw that broke the camels back 2 managers left and my son and 3 others who worked the kitchen left also. they were all getting sick of the list of food they didn't have being longer than what they did and the owner owed every food vendor but went out and bough a brand new Jeep to go with the 2019 truck she was driving.

Since the students at the local colleges returned La Crosse County has had spikes of over 100 in a day. I had a need to drive into La Crosse the other day. Octoberfest, our local beer and debauchery festival was cancelled for this year. Students are partying on their own and I was driving by a lot of large groups of them and did not see a single mask nor any sort of distancing. Geez, how can the spikes be happening?

I do the social distancing thing. I stay out of stores and public places as much as possible. The most important thing is hygiene. I wash my hands before I handle food and eat. I do not wear a mask.

Your told to wear a mask, but do you?

How about your kids, neighbors, coworkers, people at the grocery store?

it really isn't hard to keep distance from people here. pre covid talking to neighbors in the yard 6 feet was already a normal minimum distance

Numbers game played by press and polititians. Almost all people I see out have masks where and when they are told too yet the numbers game keeps going. The only numbers you should be looking at are HOSPITALIZATIONS and DEATHS. According to the so called experts if YOU stay 6 feet away from me I shouldn't need a mask anyway

The numbers would quit rising so fast if the cdc quit lying. But not to worry if biden gets in covid will disappear Im willing to bet on it

I find it interesting that we were told to shut down everything for two weeks to "flatten the curve" so we wouldn't overwhelm the healthcare system. We were told, you can't stop a virus and, sooner or later, everyone would be exposed. Six months later, we are being controlled by a bunch of politicians that can only think about how much they want to get rid of our current president. If you are under the typical life expectancy age, your odds of dying from this are less than dying from complications of a knee surgery. Man, people are stupid. My 80 year old dad has it now. I'm willing to bet, a couple weeks from now, he will be just fine. My 6' tall, 350#, 53 year old brother had it a couple of weeks ago. He is fine now. Case counts now mean about as much as counting all of the common cold cases.

I wear a mask when I go into a store. Other than that I keep my distance and more consciously wash more hands and face and try not to tough my face.


A town not too far from here had a bar that was anti mask. Nearly all there servers and bartenders got covid and had to shut down over labor day...... They're stubbornness cost the thousands.

my oldest is a UW Milwaukee student but decided with 3/5 of her classes online to change her schedule up and save 3K on a dorm she would have very likely been quarantined to after a couple weeks.
she is doing more gen ed credits from home with all her classes online.

I was just thinking the other day that I wish someone would start another mask thread since I was beginning to forget who was pro mask and who is anti mask.

Well he has to come up with something different than Trump. He claims Trump mishandled covid but everything he suggests to do Trump has already done.

the smartest thing for them colledge kids to have done was for everybody to have been confined to campus until thanks giving and had a big month long covid party . get it over with and not take it home to the old folks or family members with compromised immune system .
