Seen this in the woods today!

I guess I should explain better, the sign was put up by an Aphis trapper, letting folks know there are beaver traps in the area, I guess the beavers don't like them there.

Ran into those signs everywhere last spring . Seems every creek or river that has trout in had government trappers .

I'm not sure I see the humor in that, other than the sign being on a tree the beaver have cut half way down. If you consider that bird season is open now, people are out with their dogs. I have two signs like that out now. I've had dog owners call to thank me, and one worked into a beaver job.

I have hiked several miles of the Ice Age trail in northern WI, almost always in April with most of the snow gone and often before the ticks and have seen a lot of those signs and even beaver in sets while hiking. To me it made sense to trap in the spring when other public usage was way, way down and dog and hound usage was down as well.

I don't have that option Bryce. When the roads are flooded, or the timber is under water, it may conflict with hunting seasons. I have five bird dogs and figure it can't hurt to post a sign warning the dog owner there are traps in the area. I believe WS is required to post them, I just figure it's good PR.

I know there is harvest in summer and fall when hiking and hunting as well Rally, just saying that spring worked well for some trappers and the USFS and also got a lot of the dispersing beaver as well.
