Saw this ad: I would think half of trapperman would be running to Idaho. How hard is it to catch a couple?
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

"In 2019, more than 45,000 wolf tags were sold in Idaho, and hunters harvested 188 wolves — a success rate of 0.4 percent. Success rates tend to be slightly higher for trapping, and trappers harvested more wolves (200) than hunters did in 2019.Jan 28, 2020.." Ouch. That's pretty low. Still think I could do it. Lol. https://idahonews.com/news/local/ma...aho-hunters-and-trappers-increases-to-1515 wolves would certainly be worth the trip and living in a tent for a month..

Up to $1000. Read the fine print. That may be the Top Lot. Probably the carrot.

It is $ 500.00 in some of the more southern units and $ 1000.00 in the more northern units. As of 2 weeks ago they have had 273 wolfs turned in for this year alone. Think about how many elk that amounted to being saved. And yes I am a member.

Know of several trappers catching more than 1 and was paid....also you have to complete a wolf trapping course first...classesare usually fill up quickly and might take months to get in....wolves of travel a large are you can set on fresh sign and they may not be back through that area for a month.

There is a Native Guy from NWT that sent 50+ prime arctic wolves every year to North Bay for quite a few years. Not sure if they had the incentive payments at that time but the pelts alone were bringing 700-1000 each. They were all skinned complete and open and frost dried-beautiful pelts to see.Every one had a bullet hole right in the middle of the back, neatly sewn. They were displayed around the fur barn at convention time, just before the spring auction.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Under winter snow I can’t imagine. Possibly a good trapper setting whatever back roads stay accessible to one degree or another could do well. Wolves do like an easy trail just as we do. Osky

Would fall trapping be similar to any other canine trapping? And how is idaho for coyotes and cats? Gas money?
