one of my favorite Asian Buffet places is closed and a sign out front building for lease

it has also been a year of no potlucks , had one at Christmas last year , then nothing


I can't eat like I use to but I enjoy them none the less.

back in the day I could clear 5 plates and go back for a soup bowl of ice cream and hot fudge.

potlucks , where I can bring one dish and try some of a whole bunch , what 's not to like about that.


oh and a taco dip , a good taco dip at the holiday parties

what is it you miss?

would occasionally get invited to a game feed , drop a donation in the jar at the start of the line and eat rabbit and duck and moose and all sorts of things.

I would not mind going to a Chinese buffet. But my waist is big enough @ this point.

I like some of the buffets

The pot lucks I've been to require a special rule .......eat the packaged food only

Chips , rolls , crackers , soda can ..........

I like a salad bar with a wide selection.

I have heard that some places people don't trust other peoples cooking or cleanliness.

but in Wisconsin Lutheran culture this is not really an issue #hotdish

Yeah , wife makes me go . I don't know half the people there . I'm too picky to eat some unidentifiable crap that's been sitting at the back of someone's fridge for Lord only knows how long .....

Casseroles are all deemed suspicious and red flagged ....

Being a disadvantaged Canuck,for sustenance, I have to settle for fresh moose loin and such.

Buffets are back open here, though it was to late for a few.

That counts as packaged ...... packaged in moose hide

I am not allowed to bring the meat for chili cooks at work any more. someone else volunteers for it right away now.

took them 10 years to realize it was always venison but they caught on some people take issue with that since I might have picked up some very nice roadkill over the years.

if they get car hit in the head and break the neck it really does not mess up the meat at all.

it looks like the little Chinese place I have been eating at for 21 years is still in business, they stayed open on carry out , I don't get over there much since it is next to work and I haven't been to my desk at work in 7 months
in 1999 the buffet was 4.10 with the tax ate there near every day now it is 7.50 and I get there a lot less often

Some of the best moosemeat I ever ate was hit by trains or trucks.
Also some of the worst.
Depends on the animal,and how it was hit and if it was processed promptly.
Shot moose is almost always processed promptly and killed cleanly but some roadkill or at least parts of it,can be good too.

my wife has rules for what road kill can come home and it has to be below freezing.

Yeah I miss potlucks also. Most buffets aren't that good. I actually made a potluck staple this morning just because I missed it. Cheesy potatoes and sausage bacon casserole. I put the bacon on top instead of cornflakes.

when i did my job paintin watertower over in cutler maine... i lived in my bus in a terailer court bout 20 homes....cpl of the guys wer lobstermen.... i told them id buy there saturday catch and wed have potluck sundY AFTERNOON DINNER MAN IT WAS A HIT oops hit ccap lok

We still have a golden corral buffet open...only difference is they serve it up behind plastic. Prob is one plate and im done

Just went to Hu Hot with the wifey this weekend, it was the same as always except you could only go down one side, and had to wear a disposable gloves when getting your stuff. For those who don't know, Hu Hot is the world's best mongolian grill, I highly recommend it.
