Precedent has been set for grand juries to hear secret or non disclosed statements and depositions and also they won't even reveal who they were or the transcript so yes if the grand jury feels there is probable cause it will go to court and then we will all know. If the deposition persons feel threatened or their families then witness protection is likely.

Not well. The same inference against you (that would also apply to a failure to produce evidence, like tax returns) would probably apply to your case.

So if someone sat on the witness stand and refused to reveal a source, the judge or jury would probably make an inference that there is no source.

And if someone refuses to produce tax returns, the inference can be made that there is something in those returns he doesn't want the public to see. His claim that he paid millions in income taxes should be tested. If it's indeed the case he paid millions in income taxes, he could settle the controversy just by releasing the returns.
