Supposedly being cancelled by various cities? Halloween is basically just an informal agreement between neighbors. We all agree that on October 31 we're.gonna stop by and grab a piece of candy. If government can stop you from going to the neighbors house on October 31, can they stop you from going to the neighbors any other day of the year? And why do people follow these nonsensical orders? So they really just assume that I'd their mayor says you can't go to the neighbors house tonight, that the government has that power? Is power really that easy to grab? Los Angeles is the biggest city to "cancel" halloween, and I keep hearing talk of it all over.

I get that, for us it's just a day to gorge on candy. My concern is more with the idea that government can just tell people that they can't go over to the neighbors house, and people will just follow along.

I agree and just as pagan as modern Christmas (Saturnalia).

I think there’s plans to cancel it too, along with the right to bear arms. Of course you won’t be able to talk about it either.

So why is the government involved at all including sanctioning of when the trick or treating is to be held?

I don't think there is a christian religious holiday that doesn't have it's basis timing wise in a pagan holiday.

Halloween should not be a problem since everyone will be wearing a mask!

You're right. Unless you consider Jewish holidays as part of Christianity. Jewish holidays and sabbath dinners are typically fun.

I honestly don't know why Christians don't celebrate more Jewish holidays.

I agree with you, Adam. I like Jewish holidays. I don't know much about them to be honest though.

Shoot...

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Because those were based on the law which was a tutor leading to the christ. Once the christ came the law was fulfilled and no need for the holidays.

I think it's the principle. What if they canceled Christmas, or birthdays, or Thanksgiving or the tooth fairy.? I didn't think we lived under tyranny quite yet.

I want to meet the cop willing to ticket a little kid or arrest his mom for trick or treating

It's about kids dressing up and going trick or treating. Same as Christmas is about family getting together to exchange gifts and the kids seeing what Santa left under the tree for them.

That said, its not safe in these democratic run cities for kids to be out after dark anyway.
