Great pitcher and competitor. The saying was if his grandma was crowding the plate he’d brush her back. Had 255 complete games in his career about ten years worth these days for the whole major leagues

He was the main reason MLB lowered the mound... he was almost unhittable....I think his best year was a 1.12 ERA. What a shame. I would have loved to see some of the dominant pitchers of today with the advantage of a 5” higher mound.
