Yes and outstanding pitcher and competitor. When he pitched a nine inning game rarely lasted 2 hours. God's speed for his family and friends.

Sorry to hear, he was a good one.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Great pitcher and competitor. The saying was if his grandma was crowding the plate he’d brush her back. Had 255 complete games in his career about ten years worth these days for the whole major leagues

I remember one game when he had a stare down with the cards manager going to the mound. He told the manager," I got myself in this mess and I will get myself out"

My Dad, brother and I saw him pitch a no hitter against the Pirates in Three Rivers Stadium in 1971. I went to a lot of ball games in my youth, saw a lot of shut outs and good pitching, but that was the only no hitter.

I was a kid in St. Louis then and got to see him pitch many times. Great man and an inspiration to so many.

We could use alot more like him today.

He was the main reason MLB lowered the mound... he was almost unhittable....I think his best year was a 1.12 ERA.

What a shame. I would have loved to see some of the dominant pitchers of today with the advantage of a 5” higher mound.
