The local game wardens had to dispatch a giant deer that was stricken with blue tongue this morning. It was in a lot next to the old city water lake. It has hit hard here in last few weeks but the KDFWR doesn't want it out for some reason. I found 2 this week lying in the river that runs thru my lease.

I have a video but don't know how to post it so I just added a screen shot.

About 18 years ago we had a huge run of blue tongue in NE. Went goose hunting on our lake in NE Nebraska and went out in little row boat to get a couple geese, found two bucks in the reeds dead. The thick tree groves also smelled like rotting flesh when you drove by them, it took out lots of deer. Bad deal.

Have found five dead this year not far from jbyrd63 but three were far from water, wondering if something else was wrong with them.

Elevated cases here in Tennessee this year but hopefully nothing like the huge 2007 wave. It was so bad that year you could smell the dead deer just about anywhere you hunted and the buzzards were thick. Sad way for a deer to go.

We had a horrible spell of EHD last year here in southern indiana. I haven't seen any traces of it this year. The deer that I saw dying were in much worse shape than this fellow appears to be though. They would get very very skinny.he doesn't look like he was feeling very well though.

With the number of deer it sounds like you guys are finding..it sounds like EHD rather than Blue tongue.

Have you had a drought down there this summer ?

Working coyotes 20 some years ago in Montana at a remote stock dam/water hole I found 23 dead white tails. What a terrible mess that was and even worse helping get it cleaned out.

Yes we have had 5- 8 regular bucks that stopped showing up . But they will move once the velvet comes off. So waiting until they start their scrape lines to see in they return.
