Things are crazier than the Obama scare. Anyone finding .556 or .223 ammo out there? Looking for some coyote ammo. Everywhere I go its sold out.

yup , after the cheap fmj dried up the good stuff was next

keep checking every shop and store and expect to be over a dollar a round when you find it.

with the oboma scare police still respoded to calls

in 2020 your on your own is the message people got loud and clear in places like Kenosha

so more people than ever are preparing to be on their own

One of the best times to get started reloading imo.

if small pistol and small rifle primers weren't just as hard to find as loaded ammo

I made my mind up about 6 years ago to never run out or low. I stocked, some would say hoard. But, i'm ok with whatever people want to call it.

I'm stocked to the tune of 100,000 casings, 75,000 bullets, 60,000 primers, 50 pounds of powder, not to mention loaded ammo. It is times like this that i can say the expense was worth it.

What i am needing is CCI small pistol primers. I have plenty of small magnum primers i would consider trading.

Before anyone asked, Not selling anything at this time.Trades maybe. Sarge

Found some .223 hunting rounds in a local shop and a private sale a week ago. It’s hit or miss here for certain ammo. Prices are higher however most shops are not gouging like some private sales online.

A couple weeks back I randomly decided to stop at cabelas to get more ammo for the rifles to sight in. I noticed a guy with 2 boxes of 223. As I was looking for 270 308 and 300 win mag an employee opens a case next to me. I took 1 box of 100 rounds fmj landed up being $60. It was the last case and the first time he's seen 223 in a couple months.

The employees couldn't stock the shelves fast enough. They had pistol calibers too but at $40+ for 20 I passed.

I am even finding powder

some good advice for everyone from here on out , when you figure out what your hunting rifle likes buy at least a hundred rounds of it. pretend like your driving a car where the next gas station sign says 100 miles and fill up every opportunity you get if your under your hundred rounds.

that way when you get to times like this , you can still go hunting

date the boxes of ammo as you get them if they don't have a sticker right the price on them also and maybe a note of what gun they are for on a note you tape to the box

worst case you die with 119 rounds of ammo and a gun that you leave to your kids or grand kids. nephew , niece ect..

a friend of mine his dad was a firm believer that when you purchased a gun you should then make sure to always have 1000 rounds for it while a 1000 would be nice start with 100 for the hunting guns

oh and if you own a semi auto pistol , you should get a new recoil spring for every 2-5000 rounds or so the glock gen 1,2,3 they recommend 3K rounds if it is a 40 or a 357sig they still recommend 3000 rounds on the gen 4, 5 springs 9mm gen 4,5 guns are 5K

for you 1911 guys they recommend 2000-2500 rounds to a recoil spring

yes I know that they keep working beyond that , however you start putting stress on pins and peening surfaces , elongating holes for the pins.

I stopped at academy sports last night and the shelfs were bare. Some shotgun shells. Even the fishing lures were extremely low. Believe I got the last 2 packs of split shot sinkers??????

I get people stocking up on ammo and being prepared, but if some fighting actually does break out the guys that have hoarded 50,000 rounds cant carry it and if its serious fighting many will likely go down before they get through a thousand. Just leaves everybody else vulnerable while there's an armory collecting dust in someone's basement.

Guys with 50,000 rounds aren't buying any now. They were buying 6 months ago when ammo was relatively cheap.

They may have a family at home, 50,000 rounds in a SHTF situation with a family of five would be helpful.

I thought I was in okay shape until I decided to start using a small caliber for calling coyotes, never felt the need to stockpile some small rifle primers, whoops on me.

Some people just wait to long to get what they need or want. I just bought an ar 15 about 3 months ago and got 2000 rounds of fmj 556 ammo for under .40 cents a round and 820 rounds of green tip for under .50 cents a round .

Ever since I just about ran out of .22 bullets years ago I made it a point to have enough ammo of each caliber I own that would last me my shooting and hunting habits for 10 years. I was one that complained about people hoarding when I couldn't find the ammo I wanted , didn't take me long to realize that they were smart on the subject and I was not.

As for not being able to find ammo and reloading supplies you could have seen this happening 6 months ago. It's been brought up on this website several times.

Its hit and miss here. I'm stocked well on some things and let myself get low on others. Especially new calibers stuff and the things I actually use. I haven't been able to find some projectiles on some things or loaded ammo in some calibers. I'm good and just use a different gun for substitutes. One advantage of having to mant calibers is you can find something to shoot in something you have.

Dont overlook the smaller farm and home type stores. They have it around here, you just have to pay a little more than big box stores. These places arent gouging, theyre just priced a little higher because theyre smaller businesses.
