I have never used one, but my friend Kraig swears by his. If whitetails are your main target, I doubt that anything else would do better.

Awesome round based on .308 case. Mild recoil for young shooters or older. Will work from yotes to elk. Wide range of bullets to choose from. Very accurate. Get it if you can and enjoy. Sarge

I'm unfamiliar with it, is it basically just a cartridge between .243 and .308?

I can get you everyone who uses or has touched one on here to comment with one simple statement...... " O boy I sure love this 6.5 Creedmore !" Me thinks you just poked the hornets nest. As for the 260, yeah, it’s decent. I’ve personally not jumped on the .264 anything bandwagon yet though. I’m not anti 6.5 but just don’t see where it’s any better than any of the other cartridges on the market. But since I no longer own any firearms (walked away from my business and sold them to pay off debt that my partner racked up), it might be one to look into when all is said and done.
I keep desperately hoping that one day someone will call me "Sir" without adding "please calm down" or "you're causing a scene."

The .260 and .264 are good all round calibers for the lower 48. One of my friends introduced me to it 10 years ago. I’ve see cow elk killed a few times with a .264 but personally prefer something larger.

I'm unfamiliar with it, is it basically just a cartridge between .243 and .308? The 308 case is the parent cartridge case for a number of short action (SA) calibers ; 24 cal = .243 Win , 25 cal = 25 Souper (a wildcat cartridge) , 26 cal = .260 Rem , 28 cal = 7mm-08 , 30 cal = 308 Win, 33 cal = 338 Federal Magnum. The .260 Rem is an outstanding cartridge that uses .264 bullets (6.5). Unfortunately Remington has not supported this cartridge much at all (same as the 6mm Rem). There aren't many rifle platforms that are currently offered in this caliber. Factory ammunition is not always readily available. If one shoots this caliber much at all, you would want to reload for it.

If one shoots this caliber much at all, you would want to reload for it. It basically duplicates the ballistics of the old 6.5x55 Swede but in a short action while the Swede requires a long or standard length action. The thing that seems to have damaged the .260 Rem is the release of the 6.5 Creedmoor. The long distance target guys jumped all over the Creed as the super duper mostest accurate and the bambi snipers followed. If I recall there was some splitting hairs over chamber dimensions or some other technical detail why they favored one over the other but ballistically it is splitting hairs between the Swede, Creed and Rem. No deer alive could tell the difference between the three.

The differences, similarities, etc., of the 6.5 x 55 Swedish, 260 Rem and 6.5 Creedmoor have been discussed, argued about, wrangled over.....on many different forums and threads. The bottom line is they're so close in performance that for hunting purposes, as well as most others, it's a matter of what caliber you prefer. The deer, elk, etc, will never know the difference.

My father purchased one prior to our deer season in about 1997. Has been killing deer ever since without a hiccup. Deadly accurate and easy to reload for if that's your cup of tea. Otherwise it spits out most all factory ammo at an easy minute of deer out to 300 to 400 yards. Buy one and don't look back.

The bottom rifle is my 260. The top one is a 6.5x47. Both shoot bug holes at 200 yards and 5 - 3/4" shot groups at 600 yards. It seems like shooters are hung up on Creedmores but in my opinion the 260 really out shines Creedmores

Good lookin sticks Andrews. As far as calibers that would be in the same discussion (flat shooting w/o big recoils) the .257 Roberts is a fun gun to shoot and drops everything I ever shot right in its tracks. My new .25-06 is just as bad- it gets boring to never blood track anything.

I see the same thing and shot the big Kansas whitetails long before moving to Texas. Now I am amazed at how efficient the 119 grain soft points are on hogs. I only take good shots but wow- the hogs dont stand a chance.
