I think it's a supply and demand issue. I had hoped that the manufacturers had remedied this after the last go round. Anyone want to start a primer company with me???

Guy at the gun counter, at Cabela's, said they get their primers from China, and there were none to ne had anywhere. confused

Since when were primers made in china? Did I miss something?

Just another panic buy. Just like the toilet paper/canning lids. People are hoarding them. My gunshop will only sell a certain amount to people. He said he had guys come in looking to buy every primer he had but would only sell a limited amount.

I went to a local gun shop to get 209 primers for an inline, I haven't bought any I a long time and was shocked to see the shelves bare.
I had moved a few years ago and I thought I had bought 1000 pc box (10 pks) but couldn't find them. FOUND THEM in a box I hadn't unpacked yet and paid 28.00 for the brick
new one at the gun shop were 9.00 per 100!!!.
how can something go up in price that much when the process is still the same.
the new ones are marketed for inline muzzleloaders not reloading

Supply and demand. I agree, it makes no sense. This too shall pass. I say when it does, make sure you get what you need. I poured a part of my 401k into my supply. If i don't use it or want to someday thin it out. I will make my money and then some. Sarge

Gun sales have almost doubled over the same time period last year, 5 million new gun owners, ammo sales up approximately 140 percent in the same time period last year. It hasn't been a surprise that ammo has been short for some time. add in the fact that Covid has disrupted the supply chain.

It's going to be awhile before it gets better.

I imagine that the shortage will continue for years if Biden wins. Probably get some breathing room by the first of the year if Trump wins in my opinion.

have you been living under a rock?

dem deal ? yes that also

run on ammo since 3/13/2020 . yes

Multiple american cities burning , riots , no police coming to peoples aid , police watching their own cars and police station burn? yes

It seems when America is burning with terrorists , arsonists , Marxists and looters running loose in the streets , the rest of America Just can't have too much ammo.
9, 40 , 45 , 38 , 357 , buck shot , shotguns , handguns , 223 , 5.56. heck 30-30 anything you could define as useful for self defense , is sold or in very short supply

primers in particular small rifle and small pistol are Very hard to find , you can maybe find a few large rifle and some magnum pistol and rifle.

range empty on a nice Saturday in Oct because no one wants to shoot up their precious supply of ammo because they have no idea when they will be able to get more . yes

I was working the club gun show Sunday morning

no kidding baggies of 9mm 10 rounds for 10 dollars 20 rounds for 18 dollars this was repackaged bulk fmj

one guy had a big box of blazer brass 350 pack for 300 dollars

75 dollars a K for primers

one of the guys I was working security with asked me how many rounds I have . probably not enough is the only answer I care to give.

a friend text me yesterday morning , um do you know where I can find ammo? the stores all seem to be out . maybe , I found him one box at a store he didn't check and told him you need to make that last again it might have been the last box of 9mm in the county for sale.

hadn't occurred to him that cities on fire = ammo shortage in ammo math ammo shortage = deeper ammo shortage

by the way Federal 209a were still 4.50 a hundred here yesterday

I watch the farm supply store closely. They get a couple boxes of .45 per week but they're Federal with small primers so I leave them.
The other day I was surprised to see two boxes of 9mm Luger on the shelf. Made the mistake of going back the next day to get them and they were gone.
I bought 100 new .45 brass and they were 41 cents apiece. Add 26 cents per bullet plus primer and powder and that's a high dollar cartridge.
I've picked up a lot of brass on the range. .45 and .223. I'm glad people leave it lay.
I bought some 230 gr XTP hollowpoints for a .45 but the radical tip would jam on the ramp about 1 out of 10 rounds. I dipped the tippy-tip in hot wax and they seem to be going through okay now. I'll still avoid them after this box is gone though.
There is a critical defense hollowpoint with a pastic insert in the tip that's supposed to feed better.
I'd like to find some LRN but everybody is sold out. Good time to be in the bullet bidness.
