ATF should be a convenience store.

I agree and have some very personal reasons however..... Those functions would just lead to the FBI or Secret Service taking over making it even less transparent. Heck.... Even DHS might take over and we really have no insight.

That's the kind of stuff government "think tanks" come up with. That's some complex thinking.

the atf's sole role in government is infringement. infringement on your right to consume alcohol and tobacco, infringement on your right to be armed, infringement on your right to explosives. If you need to blast in order to put in a corner post that is not government concern. If you choose to smoke and drink yourself to death with home made drugs same thing, guns? well we all know about that too

If you forget the fact that we all have a constitutionally protected right to own and carry military capable firearms...

This decision by the ATF is still crazy. Two years prior to deciding that stabilizing braces are illegal, they wrote several letters in response to citizen's questions and said that stabilizing braces were legal. There is no justification for the change, other than they just felt like changing their minds.

By the way, this information is two or three years old, maybe more.

I just checked cmmg to see. The brace option is N/A on the pistols now, I know they were an option just a couple weeks ago. crazy I can't imagine the ATF doing this at this pint in the game, millions of braces have been sold and put to work on builds and whole firearms at this point. My guess it this was done to create millions of potential felons in one fail swoop in hopes of using this with a new anti gun potus to disarm folks. mad

Screw the atf and they're anti american unconstitutional agenda. Time to repeal the nfa and get rid of the atf

I don't see how an arm brace on an AR pistol to facilitate use from the shoulder could be anything but a short barrel rifle. The previous ATF letters struck me as bait and I would never take that bait. It was very tempting given that my wife is very short and an AR pistol used from the shoulder is a perfect fit for her, but I refused to get caught in the trap the ATF appeared to be setting. Why SBRs need a tax stamp is another issue and something that should be changed.

Of course an AR pistol with a brace is really just a short barreled rifle. Anyone who thinks otherwise is smoking crack. But who cares? Is a rifle with a 16" barrel really any safer than one with a 10" barrel? Of course not. Same with the 14" barreled club handled shotguns. Technically they're "firearms", but everyone knows they're a short barreled shotgun. These sorts of things just point out the lunacy of our firearms laws, specifically the NFA. Time to get rid of it all.

Exactly. It's all ridiculous. You can't remove the buffer tube anyway so what's the big deal. It's about as stupid as not being allowed to put a vertical fore grip on a pistol and not being allowed to reduce noise to safe levels without payins your moneys and fillin out the paper work. The bullets still come out the same end.

to clarify this some

the Q honey badger uses a specific proprietary to that gun pistol brace , the brace and receiver are manufactured to work together

any other AR pistol with brace be it KAK , Bladetech , SIG if the ATF changed the rules tomorrow you could take the brace off in a matter of a minute or so and be legal again.

Also the ATF had approved the Q honey badger brace design and gave no warning and did not follow procedure as I understand it in their about face.

I think this will get worked out , lots of lawyers already working on it.

you are absolutely right we need to end NFA this type of manupulation by the AFT might be just the thing to wake people up to the need to end NFA

there should be only long and short guns

long should continue as anything over 26 inches and short anything under 26 inches there should be no barrel length only long and short

anything >26 should be treated just as rifles and shotguns are today and anything under should be treated as a handgun is today. simple and done a tape measure can easily determine if the gun can be fired while less than 26 inches then it is a short and if it can only be fired while more than 26 inches a long

no NFA registry on sub 26 or over 26

we should also have suppressors with no NFA registry this is a gun muffler it doesn't make them silent it makes them less loud

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
