Always had a matchbook handy for the stubborn tapes. I remember that hack. I also remember as a small child , a couple neighbors still had reel to reel players in their houses from older days. Also had an FM converter in my '66 Stang that only came with an AM radio. Grew up with B/W TV's that had tubes that you had to wait a bit when you turned them on as they needed to heat up a bit for them to work. Not quite 60yo yet but had to deal with older technology as my family was not wealthy. Spent many a Saturday afternoon with my dad at radio shack as he tested tubes with their tube tester that he had scavenged out of cast-off electrical products. I also remember the 'cutting edge' 3/4" video tape player they had at my grade school.

8 track with FM tuner was in my 56 Ford Crown Vic way before the CB craze. The CB I had later was in my pick um up truck.

have you listened to a cb the last few years..I did on an interstate trip on I-80...not very much english spoken..I had to turn it off Yep, it was like a light switch in the early 2000’s. One day loading fat cattle same old drivers and the next week nobody understood English. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen and talked about frequently around here.

Oh man! CB for running bear and 'cats, along with the whip antennae that was about 15 feet long. Also for keeping track of traffic during road trips. 8 track blaring with Denver, CCR, Neil Diamond and others. Some of the reason my ears are worthless today.
