I am personally leaning towards wolf, even though this is very close to a housing area. Just a gut feeling combined with the overall look, its gait, etc.
There are people reading this that have a lot more experience with wolves than I do and I would like to hear some opinions, thanks.
Looking at the color, the gait, and the overall look of it, I am pretty sure it's a young wolf. Maybe I'll check that cam again this weekend and see if we get another look.
I feel that Bernie is on a sound track. Sure it looks small but compared to the deer up close it looks small. The tail has more curve to it than coyotes we have around here. With dispersal it a YOY female wolf would be smaller than many male coyotes. When we had our seasons here there were female wolf pups registered that were in the mid to upper 40 lbs. range.
Coyote, dog, wolf?? Man if Noah on the ark would have been able to keep those canines separate better we would not have all these confusing interbreeding issues we have today?

Maybe it will come through again and closer to the camera. We do have both red and grey fox around here but it's just way too big for that in my opinion.
