I have some new Jake traps that I know will not take dye because there's no rust. Do I still wax them and put them in the ground or put them in the ground unwaxed to develop rust.

Just boil to get oil off and wax them.

the waxing is up to you, either way after a catch or a couple catches the wax starts to get taken off anyways, with my new traps I usually spray off the excess oil and hang them up then use them a season

Put them in the ground and see what happens......... If it works I'll try it with my girlfriend as soon as I can

Seriously.

Clean and wax and adjust them to your liking and they are ready to use.

I need to get in on this. I just got some new MB550s. There doesn't seem to be any oil. Do I still need to boil before I wax?

MBs dont seem to have the oil on them like other companies put on them, i guess it would be up to your preference if you would like to boil first or not but i would at least spray them down prior to waxing

Thanks for the replies. That's the last step in setting them up. Got my wax from FNT yesterday.
