if you throw them so that they hit with the handle up the handles drop out and there is less handle replacement needed

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

That is a lot of fun, my Dad set up a place when I was a kid and we had contests with throwing knives. I still have them all, I should make a target like yours.

I used to throw knives and hawk a lot. I have an old Daryl Meier Hawk that I traded for back in 1978. One year I won Mountain Man of the Year in a Seneca Run because I shot very well and reloaded on the run and I know how to throw a hawk on the run without losing a second of time.

Still looking for my dream throwing knife....A Hawken Shop Beavertail.

I owned a muzzleloader/rendezvous shop for many years. Being a dealer of hawk handles I always promoted handle throws.

I may have told this story here before...One year at the big rondy in Friendship Indiana I bought a whole big box of handle seconds. Pulled out the decent ones. That night while sitting and sipping around the campfire I went back to my camp and grabbed an armload of the trashy handles. Walked back to the campfire and got some crazy looks when I was throwing them in like firewood saying "You know you're a successful trader when you can do this!" Shinin' times!

I've heard a rumor that Shannon Bream has a real weakness for a man who's good with a knife and hawk.

I went a few times. Had a trader's booth one year. Saw the Indiana Dept. of Revenue take the guy next to me apart. I used to trade heavily in antique trade beads. One day Bill Golden from the Oak Ridge Boys stopped at my blanket and bought a bunch of beads. I also marketed Revolutionary War era braziers. Had a guy locally making them for me and I sold them like hotcakes to dealers and regular folks.

If ever you go, get to the bunker and buy black powdah! They used to sell a lot of it cheap! Of course that was in the 80's so I really don't know if they still sell it.

You'll see a ton of stuff there that will make you drool. Every black powdah enthusiast ought to go to Friendship at least once.

Nessie, are your knives the long or short throwing knives? If you guys make the trip to Indiana, I have a place you can stay and have a bourbon or 3.

When throwing a knife, how do you get it to land point first, is it in the balance in the knife?
