Our muskrat season opens in about 3 weeks--first time on a Sunday that I can remember, so just wondering who's going to be out after them when your season opens? I've talked with 3-4 country buyers and none of them can even say if they're going to buy rats this year or not, let alone a base price. I suppose everybody is waiting for more "clarification" about if the market changes. I figure that I might not be as "free" or even still upright next year, so maybe have some fun yet in the slough. A commodity in hand in better than no commodity at all, just don't think of the ledger book too much...

A wise man once said-live every trapping season like it was your last.Cause we never know if it may be or not. And regardless there comes a time when each year we become a little less "able".

I will be hitting them hard. Goal of 450 rats. Where there is water, the rat population is the best I've seen in 10 years. I will worry about getting rid of the fur when the seasons over!

Wait longer than you can stand to. Prime rats will sell easier and for more $$$. You thinking like a dollar instead of .50 cents? Honestly seems like a good year to not worry about money or numbers and bring out some kids or newbies

I'll be after them opening morning rain or shine. I have an ongoing permission that is based on my continued effort. Plus with everything going on this year, I'm looking forward to getting out on the marsh in my canoe and finding some peace. Does the bay of Green Bay have rats? That marshy area by Duck Creek always seemed like it would be a good spot.

Running mixed line but most of my ponds went bone dry. Have a few creeks left with rats so I'll be stretching a few

After my fall last year, that ended my season, I wasn't going to trap any more... but after doing it for 73 years... how can I not do it, at least a little. I have decided If I can live through this year and next without harming myself to badly... one more year next year and I can say I have made it 75 years. I think that would be quite an achievement... at least for me. As far as worrying about what I could sell them for... no concern... going to tan them. I will be 80 at the end of the season this year and 81 next year.
