Overnight set for red foxes. Checked this morning. They are impressive dirt movers. Jack

I can just see him staring up at you with that classic toothy grin ....yes in some pictures I've seen more dirt piled up into huge mounds when there wasn't hardly any at all before they get caught. I could imagine your expression seeing this one I bet he had some choice words uttered for you as you got close !

They never seem to figure out to come in on the chain and dig out the stake.

Getting There -
Although it doesn't look like it after the badger had his fun, the ground is rocky. The tie-down is a single 16" home-made Iowa anchor. Still seemed as secure as when I put it in 4 years ago. I re-made the set using the same anchor.

Yes. Definitely toothy and noisy. Gusto sat just outside the circle and barked.

Flipper 56 - Thank you. It was a change-over day. Little dusting of snow, and I'm afraid the snaking is done for the year. Another shot of the country and the season. Jack

Probably the same as any other fox pelt any other time of year in this market.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

martentrapper -
The foxes actually prime a week before the coyotes around here. No, they're not fully prime, but the leather is white right now on the adults. I have a specialty market that I trap early foxes for and prepped for the taxidermy market. As long as feet are in good shape, I've been getting $60 nose-count for the past 3 years. So yes, they're prime enough for me.

Nice to see actual trapping pictures. Beautiful country!
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
