A guy I work with has a couple boys 11 and 13 that have there hearts set on trapping they have been watching tons of YouTube videos on it and want to catch some coyotes that have been eating there chickens a possum and some squirrels so I have been going through my stuff to build them a starter package so far I have put in a 110 a #2 A 1-1/2 some old #1 long springs A sifter a shovel some old rebar stakes some bait and Mark June’s coyote dvd planning to go give a little instruction this weekend
Anything else you guys think should go in this starter pack ?

Might be nice to put a half bottle of lure or some of your leftover bait in there. Could have em help you do some skinning to earn more as season goes along.

Sorry not they best at the typing yes 1 #2 Bridger and 1 1-1/2 bridger I didn’t think they would be able to set any much bigger and that old number 2 has caught it’s fair share of coyotes over the years

Get them a set of these and they can set any trap you hand them (coil spring) !! Lost a thumb at work (right and I'm right handed) add in some arthritis and these things are God sent !!!! PLUS you buy them for them and PM me your address and I'll send you a check to pay you back !!!!

Hook them up with a dog proof or 2 and let them get the taste of connecting. Coon are easy .....

Be careful with those re-bar for yotes . Big heart crusher for a youngster to check a trap and trap + animal are gone ................

Membership in ya state assn so they are in the loop of trapper ed classes and fur sales, etc.
Possibly suggest to the parents this could make good Christmas/birthday gifts. Either from them or another relative.

As much time as you can afford, there are so many thing they can learn from you.

Buy them one or two good coyote traps, and a good fastening system. You don't want them getting discouraged right off the start by losing an animal due to marginal equipment.

Why not get them some snares also , they're light weight and easy to set even Jake from state farm could set them ha ha

id say do some coon trapping as said above, great way for them to get into it as they are alot easier to catch and plentiful and feels great to get them i still enjoy it!
