Otherwise.
CDC is now saying people who consistently wear masks are 70% more like to get covid.
WHO is saying closures/quarantine make matters worse with getting covid.

So to me it sounds like fresh air and immune system are best options

Sure, that's why doctors and nurses wear masks.

Do you have a source for this claim?

Interesting, and thanks for responding to my request for a source.

But that article references a study of only 154 patients who claimed they always wear masks.

So far as I can tell from my own Googling, the CDC still recommends the wearing of masks.

When the docs and nurses stop wearing them, I'll quit too.

I'm not a doctor or nurse, so I didn't wear a mask to begin with.

James, your failing to understand the evidence! Docs and RNs are working with patients already KNOWN to have the virus. PPE is a definite prevention measure in those cases.
The public is running around amongst a population of which very few have the virus. Your mask is most likely superfluous and even if you get the virus, it is unlikely you will get deathly sick. Almost a guarantee you won't die.
Were you wearing a mask in public a year ago? What is different now?

When oxygen rich blood is your friend against a respiratory virus, by all means wear a mask so you breath less O2. lol

All of my docs and their nurses--as well as others I've seen--wear masks, and they aren't treating people for Covid.

If the mask saves you from the covid why are people that take all the precautions still getting it? I wear mine in the stores because I have to if I want to go in and buy something but I certainly am not one of those people driving cars by themselves or walking and empty street with them on. Drs masks are effective because they are better made, they don't touch their face, they definitely don't reuse them and a whole host of other things. Drs wear masks but not the patients most often, I find that curios.

I work as a stagehand and if you want to work for in this case the Professional Bull Riders you were flat out told wear a mask or you won't be working for them no paycheck . It's the same with my Dr's an nurses they like the paychecks so they're going to wear a mask.
The PBR also paid for those of us on the show call to get tested and we had our temperature checked before the start of work each day.

Just playing the part of the devils advocate here but let's think about this for a minute, as kids we all played in every mud puddle played with the neighbors kid ate dirt pet a strange dog or cat then shared a soda pop .
Then rode in the back of a pickup truck down a dirt road to go fishing or rode a bicycle without a helmet and protective gear and survived some how and rarely ever get sick .

Then there's those who don't go out and play with other kid's as often and seem to catch cold and get sick often .
So my point is I'll still take my chances within reason but I'm still going to pet the neighbors dog ha ha and work gun shows and wash my hands like I was taught as a child .
Allan

The only time in my life I've ever had a Doctor or Nurse wear a mask before this year when seeing me was if they were operating on me.

I've gone to the Doctor in the past coughing and hacking , and they never had a mask.

Every study on respiratory viruses show masks do nothing to stop transmission/infection. I work at a hospital and play golf with a lot of docs and they're out of the mask as soon as they're able to.

The fact of the matter is no one really knows. Even nurses in full PPE being watched put on/take off the PPE are still testing positive. Good news in about another month the election will be over and we will be able to treat it like we do any other viral illness.

Masks are a trendy thing........like a stocking cap. I saw a fella walking down the street this summer wearing a stocking cap when it was 100*. Not that it helped him, but it's the cool thing to do. Also similar to the guys sagging their jeans down to their knees. May as well take their jeans off so they can walk at least, but sagging is cool, so sag it is.

Most doctors and nurses wear masks because they were told to, same as you. In their cases their jobs are at stake. In your case....not so much.

My wife is a nurse and her employer made wearing masks mandatory. They are now pushing for face shields. My wife and I think both are ridiculous. She wouldn't wear either if not forced to.

I work as a general contractor and property manager. Since March I have met with hundreds of customers, architects, sub-contractors, inspectors, tenants and prospective tenants. Very few wear masks. In my small corner of the world you wouldn't even know there was a "pandemic" being pushed if you didn't watch the news. Life goes on as normal

It's all political bullcrap and most of middle America isn't buying into it.

Eh...wot?

I'm sure there is that element to it with some folks.

But there have been so many conflicting reports; at the beginning we were told masks won't help, then those same organizations reversed themselves and told us masks will save you. Now we are again hearing they won't.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out the case numbers and death tolls are vastly inflated for political purposes. Being fed lines of crap like that goes against the grain of many Americans. Why would we wear masks that may or may not protect us from a virus that may or may not be deadly? We've been lied to from day one about this whole fiasco.

I choose to live my life just as I did before this bullcrap and so do the vast majority of people I deal with.

I'll take my chances with the virus. If I get it, i'll beat it and that will be that.

Eh...wot?

Come on 330, are you just trying to wrankle folks? If you want to comply, do it, but this used to be a free country. It ain't no more! Everybody jumped on the mask thing because CDC and WHO said so, now they have reversed they're stance, and you want to argue with them too! wear your mask if it makes you feel safe, I think it actually impedes your immune system, so I ain't wearing one! That is what freedom is, do I have to remind you?
