If I was to be in the position to question a nominee, I'd question their stance on relying heavily on precedent for their verdicts.

Cavanaugh also said he'd rely on precedent verdicts to influence his decisions. I'd ask them how more freedoms are attained if relying on precedents? Such as voting rights, ect.

I just don't see the reason there is so much weight put on them. Any thoughts?

I would view the Constitution as precedent.

Also if previous decisions were not used as some basis for new decisions, can you imagine the chaos that would be generated with each new iteration of the court ? As member justices change, so does the world view of the court. That shouldn't influence decisions but we know it does......Roberts ! Consequently, I prefer the court to be constrained by precedent.

What a pathetic group of misfits! Nothing but a dog and pony show with these clowns doing nothing but make political statements and fools of themselves. A lot of these questions, like that of the Hawaiian are completely out of order. This group of democrats and their conduct make me ashamed that they are members of the U.S. Senate!
