I got in the truck and headed out this morning. I must’ve timed it just right because traffic was minimal. Enjoying this reprieve I decided I would air it out.It was short-lived, I was caught by The Man. While I was waiting I got to thinking about all the posts on here about what he has a right to ask about. I’m waiting for the inquiry to begin so I can tell him where I’m coming from and where I’m going is none of his business, here is my license and registration. Go do your job so I can get on with doing mine.

Just ask him where he is coming from and where he is going. That should get a conversation going. Call me if you need bail. BR-549

15 over is considered "reckless driving" (at least here it is). I hope "The Man" dosen't hit you with that!
Good luck and I hope your day gets better!

lol

He asked why I was speeding? I told him I was just relaxed, day dreaming about how awesome it’s gonna be when Trump is re-elected. He told me to sit tight. He comes back with a donut and a cup of coffee and tells me to be safe and have a great day!

That exactly is what I did , lol...some years ago I was on one of those long Montana roads and lost track of speed ( a nice V8 will just hum along smile ) , a rig in front of me , we were the only two on the road. The back of the cruiser was covered with dirt, and I couldn't see any numbers or decals, so I went as fast as the cruiser did . Sure enough it was a Trooper , who finally lit up and pulled to the side to make a U to get behind me. After our intro, he asked if I knew that I was going too fast, and without thinking, I innocently said " No, I was just following you " ...he paused in smile and it took him forever to keep from laughing. I said if his rig wasn't covered with dirt I would have backed off a bit smile

What was so funny , was that I was serious and didn't mean to sound like a wise guy either smile

He was nice and let me go with a smile and warning to not follow dirty cars in front of me .....

I knew a state trooper who stopped a guy for speeding. The speeder claimed that everybody was travelling at the same speed and wanted to know why the trooper had singled him out?

The trooper asked the guy if he ever went fishing?

To which the guy replied, "Yeh, so what?"

The trooper asked, "When you went fishing were you able to catch all the fish in the lake?" laugh

A few years back I was heading home and went through a small Southern Il. town. I knew the speed limit was 35 but I was not paying attention, sorta day dreaming I guess. As I passed a parking lot I seen the city officer and knew I was had. I pulled over before he even got off the parking lot. He was a younger fella and big as a barn. As he approached my truck, grinning, he stated, "I've been waiting for you all day". For some reason, to this day I don't know why, but I said, " well dang, I got here as fast as I could"
I thought I was going to jail as soon as I said it. He looked down, tried his best NOT to laugh, but did anyway. All he said was " ok, you got me, slow down and get out of here"

I seen him a week or so later and we laughed again about it. Actually we became pretty good friends.

A trooper in Gastonia NC pulled me over 3 times during my tour with Uncle Sam. I was a Mountain Dew addict and the 3rd time he pulled me over he had a cold one in his hand when he walked up. I asked how he knew he would catch me that particular day, and he said I just keep one on ice during the holidays because I know you’ll be heading home.
The 4th time I went past a trooper and he didn’t pull me over so I got off the Interstate and went back where I could pass him again. Instead of passing him I pulled in behind him and got out. It was the same trooper. I asked if he was sleeping or radar wasn’t working and he said he was just feeling the holiday spirit (Christmas). I thanked him and wished him Merry Christmas. Needless to say I figured I was in the clear and set the cruise on 90. I hadn’t gone 5 miles and there sat another trooper...as he walked up to the truck he said Trooper *}+#*} said to tell you to slow down, lol!!!

All kidding aside, when he announced his rank and name followed by “of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division” I figured my goose was cooked. After a brief inquiry he collected license and registration an went to his vehicle. Came back 4-5 mins later, reminded me what the speed limit was and to have a safe day. I was dumbfounded!

Did he ask you questions about where you going and other questions not related to the issue at hand? If he did, did you answer them?

Next time I get pulled over (which I hope is never), I'm not going to give out any more information than is necessary. If he/she asks where I'm going, I'm just going to politely and respectfully say something like, "I'm just traveling westbound on personal business, sir". I really don't want to be a disrespectful wiseguy, but I don't plan to give out any extra information that isn't relative.

As long as I show the respect that is due to the officer, I don't see why they would care if I refuse to give out extraneous information. I figure the reason they ask questions and stuff like that is just so they can see if I can talk without slurring my words or so they can smell my breathe. So, one polite answer is probably as good as another. Unless the copper is fishing for something - in which case he can go jump in a lake.

Bound by everlasting bands?
None shall take thee
