You couldn't do that yourself? Sure could if I had the tools. I bought the wood and he charged me $80.00 to plane it, joint it, biscuit it and put it all together in one flat piece. I couldn't be happier with it.

Will you coat it -NOT paint.. a low gloss clear coat that will enhance the natural grain ? Or oil ?
Beautiful door. I so love custom-building, such as doors . I always like those big black iron hinges and door handles against natural wood beauty.
Will it be on a metal slide , or regular hinges ?
Oil finish on rustic hinges, Sharon. I'll post a pic when I put the finish to it.

Hear me out here....used motor oil thinned with kerosene is a great stain.

I usually start with 5 quarts (an oil change's worth) and cut with kerosene until its as thin as I want it. Kind of depends on the application. Usually pretty thin. I would say about equal parts.

What does the Z stand for? Duh! That's not a Z. It's a seven. Looks like an "N" to me.

Usually pretty thin. I would say about equal parts. I've had some frustrating days building this cabin, it's from logs I cut myself. This would probably make it easier for me to burn the whole thing down the next time it gives me fits. I have log oil left over from preserving the logs that I intended on using on the door but your idea intrigued me. I'm going to try it. How long does it take for the odor to dissipate? Doesn't matter, I'm going to try it.

Sounds like it might be slightly inflammable? We used to mix that up on the RR for burning old tie piles back in the day.Splash a bit of that mix on the end then toss a fusee.

Doesn't matter, I'm going to try it. It does take a while. I don't know if it's time or nose blindness. Smells like a old hardware store. Mine is also from logs I cut myself. What I would give for a team of horses.
