Looks like great fishing deerfly, are they still catching big crappies on Red, or is that done? Caught a few big northerns up there, but that was almost twenty years ago. Time flies... Caught 10 rats today in my played out line, was setting traps all day so didnt check all traps, gotta keep pushing w the decent weather.

It’s freezing fog. Been here for days and keeps building.

We had hoar frost like I never seen before on Monday, but we have had several days of it and some yet today. We took some nice photos that we can put together. Pulled today my 3 sets. No rats and ice was worse today and we are going above freezing again today. Going to size my rats this weekend, that will help us decide better when and where to market them. I have a lot of xl and smaller 2xl rats so I need to find the place that does not discount as much for those sizes.

Yup covered in rime frost up here, too. twenty three rats and a female mink today, didnt get out till past midday, so just checked line I had out, didnt set new ground. Starting in a new marsh, same lake tomorrow, it will be nice to not be running the same trail. Lots of deep water pushups w no platforms, but I guess thats the way she goes...

Didnt get any fresh sets out today, snowmobile refused to start, changed the plug, just got done cleaning carb, will reinstall tomorrow and hopefully it runs like a champ again. Selling beaver and castor to Trevor Barnes in Spooner at twelve thirty tomorrow, wont get a full day in on the marsh till sunday..

Got 4 more mink sets out on a new section of creek. Will set a couple more tomorrow. Lots of mink sign along the banks and the brush/tall grass on both sides.

Hope you get a few more mink k snow, i love catching em this time of the year, they will be super prime... Still cant get my sled going, sold beaver today to Barnes, spring beaver, w/ castors and tails I averaged a touch over sixteen, green skins. Will hafta walk my line tomorrow, wont be setting till I get machine running.

walked into a bunch of beaver spots that I let rest last year, and they've been trapped already ...not easy sdpots to get to either, I can't imagine what it was like when they were worth something

Walked my line today and pulled all traps, caught twelve rats, puts me at 750. Time to work on sled and set new marsh...

Skratmandoo, good numbers, I am a bit less then half that. Di size mine all up today and had 8% 3xl, 34% 2xl, 45% xl, 8 % L and 5% medium and down. Will see how that holds when we sell. Not many really big rats in my collection. Same with trapper I sized with today. He has several more and quite a few more to put up.

Such nice weather the last few weeks. Checked otter traps on either end of our marsh, noticed coyotes came thru and were working pretty good in the cattails so hung some cable on the ice for the first time. See how this goes. Any advice on how I hung the CR’s would be appreciated.

Looks decent. alex the dog, I see those coyote pinch points all the time when Im trapping winter rats, but I cant multi task.., one thing ive heard and would def adhere by if I was setting CR's, dont set them in a straight away part of the trail, try to set them in corners or curves of trails so they dont have time to be wary... And make some shortcuts for em. And thx bblwi, I would say six hundred are under ice rats... I've got 14 triple x's stretched, at this point.
