Can of worms here, I know...

If you had to pick a broadhead to run in a crossbow for large bodied deer, under 30 yards, what one would you pick?


Crossbow is a Bear Intense X CD shooting Bear True X carbon bolts

I am hoping to drop the animal quickly as the property is only about 15 acres so a runner is not good

NO option for firearms here and my only real opportunity this year unless something new comes along

Grim Reaper Pro Series has a stronger spring specifically for crossbow speed... The 2" 100 grain is a nice head... I shot this one (in video) with the older style grim reaper 3 blade, every deer shot with the reapers has gone down in sight

IMO...... Rocket broadheads, crossbows meat seekers 100 grain

I like mechanicals on the crossbow. Fixed g5 Monte's on a compound. Personally I am not a fan of rages have had them fail to open on both bow and crossbows. Just my experience. Good luck

If you are a one and done shooter and never care if you can reuse the head, any of the above are a fine choice. If you wqnt to reuse them, the Grim Reapers are heads and tails above Rage. Never seen a rage that wasnt mangled beyone repair after one deer, and that tells me something about construction. I switched to Reapers several years back, killed several deer, and am still using the same heads. And maybe Im just buying into their hype too much, but they just plain open them deer up and they dont go far....drop in sight. At $45 for three broadheads, Im getting the ones that work well, and work multiple times.
I will admit though, I went to an estate sale recently and picked up a brand new pack of (3) Spitfires for $4. At that price, I just couldnt say no.
This is just my experience and Im sure others have killed more deer than me and may have different opinions.

Alright folks, I've got a set of reaper xbow mechanical broadheads in the mail. Found them for $49 CAD with free shipping.
I also have some brand new muzzy fixed blades that I bought a few months ago... anybody who can vouch for those?

There have been piles and piles and piles of deer shot with muzzy 3 blades, i prefer fixed blade broadheads just because every now and then a mechanical fails in way or another. The bad part about the fixed blades for me is they weren’t consistent, i couldn’t get them to group very well from my crossbow. I tried swhackers also, alot of people love them but they didn’t fly good either. I ended up going with afflictor broadheads, they fly really true and only shot a 1/2in lower than my field points. I wish you the best and hope the ones you have work out. I ended up trying 4 different types until i was satisfied and that gets expensive. I won’t budge on accuracy though, for crossbow i feel i should be able to hit a dime size target at 20yds, nickel at 30, and quarter sized at 40.
