.....and I didn't even see a deer. But the scenery was incredible. I was in western Washington for the gerneral deer opener. When I'm there for that event I usually don't even bother hunting opening weekend, I usually wait a week or so until the area I hunt is productive. But, a couple of friends wanted to up to the lake cabin and hunt our property. What a great time we had even though nothing got shot. Pictures were taken yesterday morning before rain and wind moved in. That lenticular cloud above "the mountain" is a sure sign of incoming weather.

You guys who have sailed would see a stack of those lenticular clouds way before you would see an island under it. Brings back a lot of long ago memories......jk

^^^^^^ White17 "Yeah but WE know that isn't REALLY a mountain !"[/quote] Yes, but it is the second highest and the most beautiful (most photographed) mountain in the "States". Mount Whitney in Southern California is about 495 feet higher than Rainier, it's a cool looking ridge but not nearly as iconic as Rainier. Mount Whitney

I did see a illustration once that showed all the largest mountains of the USA superimposed on each other. The height of a mountain doesn't really tell the whole story. The entire mass of Mount Mckinley (Denali) is incredible, nearly encompassing all the other mountains of the US combined.
