Crop changes and elevation changes always enhance a post. An abrubt 1’ elevation change with a hole in it is quite the draw in the wide open.

I like to trap out in the fields sometimes. But with sets in early season I have had more than a few traps tore up because the farmer disked the field, applied AA, "fixed" some washouts or grassy spots. Sure don't catch as many unwanted critter also. The plastic bag for flagging out in the middle of a field works !! I have seen cat tracks (more than once) that were going down a fence line or field edge take a detour out into the middle of an 80 acre field just to check out a fresh dirt pile. Critters aren't scared to wander around if it means a quick dinner.

Yoteguts, the pic with the leanin post, do you have any sets in the background where it looks like a brushy draw coming out to the field or just the post? This is a great post, pun intended.

Yep I catch yotes in the light colored grass off of that corner. Only have permission on about half of that grass. That first yote was buried up.

This was a little grassy draw 1/2 mile in middle of field.

And sorry these next ones at night...I dont get to run during daylight too much. These are all out in middle of corn or bean fields. There are not much features in bean fields so sometimes a big piece of black pipe pounded in becomes the feature.

I like corn and bean fields and I go way out over a hill and out of sight from road. No cover for hunters and very little problems from the orange army or coyote pickup army either. Big dirtholes work well in corn.

Amazing how much I need to learn. I never would have thought to make a set in the middle of a field or should I say had enough confidence to do that. This form is such a huge help for Semi rookies like me
