Had a double on wolves this morning, one pulled out as I drove up. Had to release this one.

Looks like a thick furred sucker. How many sets did you have out...?

I'm trying to figure out the percentage of your catch today was wolf out of how many total sets?

There used to be a guy on WAT that trapped in north-central WI for yotes, but obviously he would catch some wolves as well. One of the last years he was on that forum, it was sort of a rainy October as well. He had about 20 or so canine catches and almost 25% was wolf. That, and what you showing in this thread indicate that wolves are pretty common in a lot of northern WI and if you're trying to catch coyotes, you will most likely also catch wolves. The antis have no biological reason left to resist a wolf season, its now only political. I know you Wisconsin guys have said this in past threads but your catches just reinforces that fact today.

P.S. That guy on WAT used to have some wild wolf release videos. He and his nephew had some serious trust in each other and large nads during some of those releases...

Caught a bobcat here in Eau Claire County today. Had to release it since I didn't have a tag. 2nd one I've caught in this area over 15 years. I might have to start applying for a tag. It was nicely spotted. I don't know how to download pics or I'd post it.

50 years trapping and hopefully another 50 still to come. OK, let's hope for 15 more.

Only 6 today out of 27 sets. Glad I didn't get out and set at 12:01 AM Saturday morning, water levels were way up Saturday morning and dropped most of the day. Water levels probably dropped 18" at least. As it was, a few of the spots that were easy to get to Saturday midday were a little tougher today.

At least they were all good size and no kits.

I am happy to report the Sportspal canoe is performing better than I expected. Maneuverable and very stable. A few times I leaned over quite a ways and still never had water up over the foam sponsons on the side.

I am about half done skinning at 7 PM, the rest need more air and I will watch some world series and FB for a couple hours. I got 36 rats with only a few kits and one damage. Coons raise H on the line in the big slough. 5 snapped traps two pullouts and 3 coons. I kept one nice one and the marsh will be home to the two small ones. We have about 1-2 inches of snow now but it is not supposed to freeze too hard soon. The way it looks I will pull these sloughs Tuesday and probably regroup for a few days as the other sites are not trappable yet.

I rebedded traps after the nearly 4" of rain, and connected that night. I used Dobbins GL40. Caught in a canine extreme, back foot. Never hurt a hair on his body. 31lb tom cat marked up really nice. Happy boys!! [Linked Image]

2nd check was 21 rats and the coons took two. Sign appears to be up a tad from the last 2-3 years. I pulled 3 dozen sets today and will pull all tomorrow. I gambled that our first night of mid 20s won't give me too much ice to break but we will see. My first day of 36 rats were almost all larger rats. Today was the reverse as more mediums and smaller rats. I tend to overset and that has me with a lower catch percentage but also 2-3 checks is about all I want to do.

Checked sets at the larger marsh yesterday. Only yielded 10 rats. Many sets had 1/2" of ice over them, tough going this early in the season. Checked a few sets close to the house today, 7 rats and a mink in a bottim edge muskrat set!

Bryce I noticed today some of the rats are running smaller than previous check. I too tend to run a 2-3 checks and move but I think the ice is hindering the take so may see what the improved weather brings.

Judging by deer movement it may be a good time to be in the tree for the big one if that is ones thing. I might find myself in a tree for the weekend, but the weather looks good for roofing too so we'll see.

Got the three marshes pulled today. 62 rats and one keeper coon. I will start on part of the river line tomorrow and then work on sections for the next week or so. Looks like only a couple freezing nights for a week with no rain in the forecast. The river will keep dropping so I hope 5-6 days after the big rain it will not drop so much. I had a decent coon in a rat trap today and as I neared it pulled out and ran off. I had it by one little toe. Why it was still in the trap I don't know. In the current market I was not bothered much by having it gone. I had one smaller marsh with 2/3rds of the traps froze in and skim ice over the marsh. The larger one had no ice on the slough at all and they are half mile apart.

Yesterday turned into a nightmare with my alternator going out on my way home last night lucky I was by a buddys house where I could park it and fixed it this morning anyway the check was 80
Then today i had a bit of a late start and was only able to set 50 new traps and the check was 52
So total is 232

I'm surprised you went out deerfly haha I figured the ice would be bad I'm gonna go up on Thursday I think

Sounds like you got a few Bryce eh good going

Plans change. Our daughter needs surgery so we need to do some granddaughter care taking for some time. That changes our deer gun season plans as well. Needed to take a trip to our get away place for couple days to winterize, get canoe put away, bring food back etc. Our planned trapping trip was cancelled as well. All ready to hit the moving water tomorrow. It is going to be 24 tonight so I decided to cover my strawberries, dig my carrots and sweet potatoes and prune my fall raspberries. Weather looks good for a week or so after tonight.

Good going guys. Set a pond up yesterday so curious to see what is there. Only bank dens but didn't look to be a lot of action. Having a medical procedure tomorrow so I am glad we have a four day check.

Good luck to all and stay safe.

Caught 2 coyotes this morning and one badger.
Checked out my ADC rat job and found some bigger rodents have moved In. So It looks like the beaver iron will have to come In to play on Monday.
