Yesterday when I was checking traps in found one of my 650s that was a blind trail set pulled from its bed and one jaw laying near it. No real disturbance to the ground and a very small amount of short brown hair on the jaw still on the trap. Hair looked to fine to be deer. Looked more like bobcat. Has anyone ever had this happen with a 650? This is my first year using them. I normally use 550s and never had this happen.
Wish I had more time to trap....

well I call the Manufacturer first before putting it on tman .... yep, SOP on anything that breaks. I give them a chance to make good and keep a customer and most companies pull thru, be it S&W or Weaver or MTP or Chevy or Frigidaire or whoever.

I dont think an animal did that. nothing looks misshaped. Looks like somebody squeezed the jaws together with a big pair of water pump pliers or something

I’m not saying it CANNOT happen , but I’ve got over seven dozen MB 650’s and haven’t seen this before . Weird !
Looks to be a fairly new trap , has it ever been set before ?

I don't understand it but the unlaminated jaw version would be more likely to have it happen than laminated or cast.Still,I have never seen it happen.I can tell you one thing, you will get a lot of damage with those unlaminated jaws. They were originally offered for those that wanted to laminate their own.I would never set them again.I had a dozen and ended up replacing the jaws with cast. x2

I am with Taxi- that trap has a lot of power and the cast jaws have done me proud. If I had to laminate I would probably look into the inside outside combo.
As far as your trap I, like Danny, think there is more to this than you have found or posted. You might reset that place and drop in a well camo'd trail cam to see who is coming thru.

Watch trap.shed, I will be selling the 8 I have. I have laminated iaws for them. I traded my mb 450 fox traps for these just to try them and I think I will stick with my MB 550s.
Wish I had more time to trap....
