Are states actually counting and announcing early voting numbers, or where does this come from?

They say that half the number of total voters from 2016 have voted early so far, around 63 million so far. Trump won 2016 with a vote count of 62.8 million.
Guess it will be a ghost town when I go to vote on election day since half already voted?

I have to ask, with all this early voting why do we need extra days/weeks to count them?

A firefighting news desk I monitor showed a news report of how Boston firefighters just responded to a fire in a ballot collection box. The report claimed about 1/3 of the ballots in the box were damaged beyond the point where they could be counted.

How in the wide world of sports is there unmanned, unmonitored, unattended ballot collection boxes? Couldn't I potentially send in a vote-by-mail ballot application for everyone in my apartment building, collect their ballots after the mailman comes, fill them out however I want, and then drop "their" ballots off at the collection box?

Should I really trust the USPS, whose union endorses one particular candidate, to honestly distribute and collect ballots?

I understand absentee voting and the protections that go along with it. I can even understand some provision for early voting. But the extent of early voting and all this vote-by-mail business greatly erodes my confidence in the integrity of our elections.

I think it was Josef Stalin who said the people were welcome to vote for whoever they please - the only thing that matters is that he gets to count the votes.

This one is going to boil down to turn out as minds were made up long ago. We can only hope more of those were made in our favor and more importantly made up to go vote come (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) or high water.

For the country's sake I hope it’s a wide margin in multiple states for an unchallenged win. If it's just one close margin for the win it will be contested forever and may lead to worse.

Rest assured, our governess here in Michigan will try every trick in the book to help Biden. She has her Attorney General and Secretary of State in her pocket also. We could be so much better off here in the Great Lake State.
