I think 12 gauge goose loads are an under appreciated outside defensive round. I don't like 3 inch so opt out for an extra round in an unplugged pump. Last time I was out at the Soo Foo Fleet Farm, I bought the last 2 boxes of "Kent" 2 3/4 inch BB loads for about $16.50 a piece. I'll check this weekend what they have left. Should be the grande finale before the election.

I've been aware of the shortages in the past when guys were hoarding .22 rounds but I didn't realize the shelves were being wiped clean of everything. I used to reload but gave a friend my equipment when I moved. Nowadays I try to keep a box ahead on my rifle ammo. That's enough to make sure it's printing and more than enough to get me through a season deer hunting.

I sighted my 243 in with winchester super x 100 grain power points. They shot reasonably well. Now that I'm down to 3 rounds I can't find any. I bought a box of nosler partitions to load but now I have to use up powder and primers to sight it in again and possibly tinker to get it shooting accurately. Normally not a big deal but I find myself reluctant to shoot anything but game ammo is so hard to get. I can't find the super x 100 grain power point even at gouger prices on gun broker.

Shotgun slugs are just about impossible to find around here, especially sabots

Try the Blue box .Federal s in .243 Win.
They seem to be easier to find and hold together on deer better than super x

Just got of the phone with A Shooter Supply store Was old everyone in the world was looking for ammo maybe not just a United States thing
ADC I was just going by a post on here about Remington manufacturing but your right 4 pack of TP was .99 now its $2.49
About 12-15 years ago I bought a dedicated turkey gun for my Kids as my youngest Son shot well with it on Turkeys and Crows I got a Rifled barrel for deer almost collapsed when i went to buy the New Saboted slugs out on the market Called remington and asked why it cost more to load them then any other shotgun shell He said it didn't but people were willing to pay that much for them

as hard as it was buying those sabots at 3 dollars a round , they do shoot nice on deer and glad I picked up a few boxes last fall on sale after season for 2.50 a round.

most people don't need 10K rounds but few would go broke buying 5 boxes of what you hunt with and always keeping 4 full boxes that would for most of you have you good for 5 years 10 in a stretch and give you time to find more or a alternative.

$50K truck
$3K hunting lease
$7K atv
$1500 elevated blind
$150 dollar a night hotel
$200 dollar bar bill
$900 dollar rifle and optic

not having 5 boxes of 20 dollar cartridges set aside , short sighted

Ammo shortage has gotten bad enough that the two Academy sports stores that I went to recently have replaced their rifle and pistol ammo section with duck decoys so that it doesn’t look as bad as empty shelves day in and day out. Rifle and pistol ammo that arrives lives it’s short life on a cart in the customer service booth.

I found that interesting.

Ammo to be had around here if you know where to look, not where the masses shop. Probably dry up eventually with the panic increasing. There’s some ammo on gun broker if you want to take a chance at auction. I mainly use shotgun shells. I also reload shotgun shells every now and again.

I can't find deer slugs or .50 muzzleloader bullets. I'm sure I'm not the only one in the same boat. I have 2 box of slugs for the wife for gun season. I'll keep looking, but my slug molds have not arrived yet. I did score 3000 Winchester 209 primers for a good deal Monday. Sure wish we could use a rifle in my state, would make deer hunting a lot easier. Sitting on a lot of 22-250, 223, and 308.

I know, just pokin fun. I see it plenty. Never understood how people can pay thousands of dollars to go hunt a deer but what ever floats your boat.

My neighbor works at a pretty big reloading supply store. They’ve been working OT for a few months now. According to him, it’s absolutely nuts how fast stuff arrives and is shipped out the same day. Other than lighter load shotgun shells, everything is in short supply. About 60% of the orders they place aren’t filled by their supplier. Lot to do with China supplying most of the lead. China has a shipping container shortage they’re being told. Not supposed to get any better until demand tapers off. Which is to say, they’re not gonna make more than they already are, at least for a while.

On a side note, it’s pretty common to hear a neighbor getting in some target practice at least twice a week around me. That stopped due to harvest, but it had been declining as ammo became harder to find, and more expensive.

I trap for fun. I skin 'em for the money!

I had no trouble finding a case of "extra" 30-06 ammo on-line today. I try to stay about a case ahead on each caliber I shoot so I should be set again for a while.

I have nothing clever to put here.
