Reading a lot of posts about health or lack of health. Just curious who all works out with weights or does cardio or both?
I’m 52 (53 in January) and in pretty good health. At my heaviest I weighed 213 (5’7”) so yeah, fat boy for sure. Doc actually called it “morbidly obese”. That got my attention. I started back at the gym in July of this year and I’m down to 194 but I’ve lost 2-3” in my waist line. I’m back lifting to where I left off a couple of years ago. I’ve always enjoyed lifting weights and have always set goals to achieve, the same with life. I started out just using 40’s dumbbells on the incline bench (incline has always been my nemesis when lifting) and set goals to be at lifting a set weight at certain times during the year. So far all goals have been met. Wanted to be up to the 90’s by Halloween and hit that goal last week. Next goal is the 100’s by Christmas.
I absolutely despise cardio, but I’m at a 9 minute and some change mile and can actually run 3 without 911 being called.
Every day I go to the gym just to see if today’s the day I have a heart attack or tear something and get to meet some of those cute PT’s next door, lol.
I can tell you this, it was rough and sore the first few weeks, but now I go trying to get that soreness back. I feel better. I sleep better. I’m always in a better mood. And I believe it will really pay off when I start trapping. I also have a 6 year old son now that I need to be around for. He has a lot of great adventures ahead of him that he doesn’t even know about yet. I just want to make sure I’m the one that teaches him. And yeah, I realize none of us know when it’s our time to go, I just want to make sure it’s not health reasons that take me out.

I workout daily if I can. Take off a day or two a week for sleep. During trapping I usually only lift I get plenty of cardio. I’m growing fond of the bike, much easier on my knees then treadmill, or elyptical. I try to spend at least an hour sometimes two a day.
I’m 210 lbs but you wouldn’t know it looking at me. I’ll get down in the 190 range by the end of season. When you’re walking 10-20 miles a day the belt loops drop. If people would dedicate even 30 minutes a day to walking they’d notice a difference.

I don’t know if you would call it a workout but I have no equipment.
I try to get in 30mins a day on the heavy bag and 300 push ups on the stairs. 100 over my head, 100 at the chest and 100 just above the waist.

had a gym membership pre-covid , it was monthly and I quit paying I would go 2-3 times a week
over the summer I was gardening every morning
I should get to more of a work out again , but for now it is just splitting wood and hauling it around each day
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I go to the health club Monday - Thursday and skip Friday and the weekend. I lift weights for about 30 minutes and do cardio for 25 minutes. I had an arterial ablation to correct an arterial flutter two years ago this coming February. It took a lot out of me and I had to gradually work my way back to where I had been prior to the ablation. I used to do 35 minutes of cardio.
I used to weigh around 195 at 5'8". Went on the high protein, low carb diet and lost a little over 10 pounds. My weight hovers around 182 to 185. I think working out keeps me in better shape. The diet has more control on my weight.

If you ever see me running you should probably start running too cause something bad is after me lol. In all seriousness I really should start working out.

Reminds me of my old high school days. We had a guy who was really fast in track. In junior high he set all kinds of running records. I remember asking him how he could run so fast? He said he always pretended a bear was chasing him!

I accidently did a abdominal crunch getting out of my easy chair, does that count?
I did lose 35lbs since March, I do feel much better.
Let's go Brandon!

Nope. Really should, just can't seem to commit. It took me about 2 months to really see results starting. Once I saw them, that gave me more determination. Plus the new way my wife looks at me helps. I "lifted" pointlessly for almost 2 years before I learned/admitted that my diet wasn't the best and I had to lift heavier.
