I hope this ends well- They're asking people to avoid the area but I can't think of a better search team than Muskrat trappers for covering a lot of area fast.

That was my thought too. Trappers know the marsh, cover a lot of ground, and are always looking for sign.

Yepper, hunters and trappers are well used to going where city folk can't, watching for sign the entire way.

Sad, things can turn bad so fast.

I don't know about back there, but my experience in Washington State has given me the distinct impression that the "official" Search and Rescue people don't want the competition; I don't think they want to share the glory. Given their dismal rate of finding live people, rather than recovering dead bodies, you would think they would value the help of people who have firsthand knowledge of the area.

I could tell you a couple of first hand stories about what I am claiming; I own or have owned rather remote properties in areas that people frequently go missing.

They really like their fancy gear though (and their doughnut/coffee wagon).

The news said they didn't find him today.

The area they believe him to be in is south of the county highway and along the Manitowoc River and not the Mud Creek that drains the larger Collin's Marsh. The south area of the Marsh is the refuge and no hunting other than deer until December. They are encouraging people to avoid the area and that then makes all the searching to be done by the security forces they muster.

saw the search crews yesterday ,they were using air boats and jet boats to drag the river unkown what was going on i started setting rat traps on the south side of the road, and just like that theres a warden there told me i was fine where i was at just dont go south of the railroad tracks as of this morning he still missing

So, sad.

Well If he's passed he died doing what he loved doing. There are worse ways of going.

Amen! When I go I want to be found next to my tree stand or near my favorite fishing spot!
