Good on you. I'd rather shoot mallards than geese but that's my problem. I hope you get some more good shoots before the freeze. My buddy in Alberta had a great season too.

Keep at it.

Pete

Very nice Sask and great looking lab. It sounds like he’s living a good life with you.

My lab had a good day today as well. He helped me and a buddy each get a limit of pheasants.

He got his treat when I dressed the birds.

Lugnut...

That Model 12 has been around the block a few times. Is it a nickel steel?

Pete

Are those stocked birds in PA, Lugnut? Can't shoot hens here.
Iowa Pheasant opener is today. I'm going to do some pre-staking and then I'll take the shorthair out for a walk and see if we can find a rooster or two.

That one belongs to my buddy PCR. It was his grandfathers and he wanted to take it out and kill a couple birds with it out of pure nostalgia. He usually shoots a Wingmaster which has the safety on the rear of the trigger guard. This old model 12 has it on the front of a trigger guard. I had already limited out and watched as he let two pheasants fly away unscathed while he was pressing a dent in the rear of the trigger guard trying to find the safety. LOL

I’ll ask him about the nickel steel when I see him later today.

Mine is the Remington 3200 O/U above the birds.

Trap dog, Yes they are birds stocked by the PGC and hens are legal here. We have very few, if any, wild pheasants left in Pennsylvania.

Honestly, I don’t know why they even bother stocking hens. They never get a chance to breed and everybody likes shooting roosters better than hens.

Yes, Mark confirmed it is a Nickel Steel M12. So that means it is at least 80 years old. Winchester switched from nickel steel to WPS barrels sometime in the 1930s.
