Was interested in their comment that "beaver will sell". Clearances from their second big sale of the year (september) surely didn't reflect that notion.

I heard betrer coon right now in big sizes, average $5 finish, in trapper post, it say very best well be in. Upper single digits in price, I like to know if any price improvement by march, if none. I don't think I try for coon at all, not really want to sell coon at $4 average, I would keep in freezer stretched. If so , I have never try fha, not sure if exactly like nafa, what they do unsold stuff ? I heard there policy was to not keep more year, destroy it ?

FHA keeps better unsold goods for several years. They might lower the value. Low grade goods are subject to disposal.

As it should be. If trappers don’t want thier pelts disposed of they can learn to skin and put up only the good ones. We could all benefit from some grading classes so that we know what to offer for sale and what to weed out. The market as a whole would benefit, in my opinion.

Getting reports that fur is really moving in China especially ranch mink. The projected number of ranch mink to be offered next year is less than 20 million skins.

I understand that ranch mink are more desirable. Uniform size, color, and availability. I get it.

I am only saying that if ranch mink aren’t available, anyone wanting to work with mink would have to go after wild mink. Since they’re not as uniform, it would seem as though the good pelts would be worth good money.

Can someone help me understand how ranch mink “helps” wild mink prices, because I just don’t see how it could. If ranch fur wasn’t available, wild fur would have to be used. Why would someone want wild mink pelts when they could get a more consistent product with ranch mink?

The trouble now a days is with the chinese.
A wild mink garment when made by an italian master fur designer is a much more beautiful, durable, and valuable product than a compareable ranch mink garment.
The chinese do not have the skills of the italian master furriers and likely never will as the masters never mass produced garments on an assembly line like the chinese do with ranch fur.
When working with ranch fur it is all the same-no matching skills involved in the manufacture or design of individual garments-mass production. The walmart fur coat-thousands all identical.Wild mink is one of the most difficult fur to work with because of the many different sections of wild mink. But the end product when put together by the masters is somewhat a work of art.And the price reflects that.
The chinese when working with fur are the same as when they work with anything else-mass production of as much as possible with the least amount of work possible as cheap as possible with little skill involved.

There are still a few italian masters at work in the high fashon end of the business but no one wants to pay the high prices that well matched wild fur garments demand, when they can get a cheap ranch fur product from china.

Many products have gone downhill in the same way when the chinese start cranking stuff out en masse as cheap as possible.

Bravo Boco! Wild fur, especially luxury goods like Sable, Fisher, Sheared Beaver, Wild Mink etc. should be marketed like something very special that provides a unique look that ranched fur does not have.

There are so many ways wild fur can be used but there just isn’t anybody out there leading the charge, we are stuck on the same old fashion ideas and ways.

Sheared beaver coats are beautiful but can be a little heavy for a smaller framed woman. Sheared nutria are lighter and, imho, almost as nice as the beaver. Take dyes readily as well.

Well, NAFA was doing considerable promotion of wild fur, but that's over now.

I heard Hunter Biden has considerable connections with the Chinese and Ukrainians, and may be looking for work soon.
