Question - For you guys running double long springs for bobcats and coyotes... do you Dye and Wax? Dye and Full Metal Jacket? Dye only? What is your preferred method of trap treatment for land trapping??
Thank you, for your time and feedback.

I dyed and waxed mine once, wasn’t good, it was hard to keep the springs in the preferred position. After that , dye only, (sagebrush tea) or dye with FMJ . Eventually I ended up using Formula 1 with good results.

Thank you both for your responses. They both give me something to think about.

I dye and wax mine, sometimes the springs want to slide around while you are holding them, but once they are in the ground it won't matter. Even at an exposed cat set I have never had any problem, because they are going to be settled into the ground enough to hold the springs in place. Not saying other methods don't work, just saying waxing will work.

Dye and wax mine.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I always just boil and wax. I think after this season I’m going to start trying some other methods though.

I set a lot of mine exposed to I have learned to like flat paint. The wax does speed them up and the trick I sometimes get right is waxing them w/o letting them get to hot and bubble the paint.
