When using chains for beaver drowners, is it better to leave the chain with a some slack so the lock can bind up better, or will it perform best if the chain is tight?

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Tight. Loose you give them a chance to pull the bottom stake and in shallow water it could give enough slack that they can reach air.

Tight is better, but with end weights getting them tight dont work at the time. Ive never had a problem.

I have wondered the same thing on rebar...last season I had some hits on a rebar drowners, and the traps were empty. Peaks my interest, as I have a beaver "job" that I've got to resolve.

Take the slack out...makes that ride a little easier
