well I know I said I was going to sleep tonight and I still am

my son said he wanted to go for a drive at dinner , so we went for a drive to farm and fleet they have a sale on oil , my daughter needed tape and I wanted to see if they had an orange vest with the shell holders and game pouch in the back. my son borrowed mine and made it his and we are going pheasant hunting with a friend Friday.

on the way there we saw the Deputy writing up a car deer kill on the way home we picked up a slightly banged up buck.

called it in to the WI road kill hotline

brought it home and skinned and quartered it's a little warm out about 50

it's in a cooler now

did the gutless method , it works ok , normally we gut a deer and hang it to cool and it is 40 or colder

I've been using the gutless method out in the pastures where there are no good trees and it's too far to go get a tractor. Of course it's always warm in So Texas but like you I try not to waste meat.

The gutless method is awsome on road deer. I wish we had the option to use it in the field

We don't? I thought they changed that a couple years ago.

Still gotta take it all out and can only break it down into 5 pieces. I guess if you have reception and could register it while in the woods you could do it. But your still only allowed to leave the gut pile kinda defeats the purpose.

I like the gutless method but in Wisconsin it's illegal to do it on public land in a practical manner.

on road kill you have to move everything , you can not leave anything roadside

I keep my Viking sled in the back of my truck a very easy roll into the sled , a less easy lift up to the top of the tail gate

i have a tool box that fills my bed even with the top of the tailgate and then a topper

this reminded me I need some planks so that if I need to slide a deer in myself I have a ramp
