Put out some sets and got wondering. What makes the majority of us choose what type of set to put in at a given location? Dirt hole, flat set, urine post. What makes you guys decide? Logic? A straight percentage,a personal combination formula? Circumstances?

Location will determine what kind of set or sets I'll put in. I trap alot of rocky gas well or log road areas, most of them get a well blended in flat set with scat and urine. If in a field or softer ground I'll put a dirt hole with a flat set near by. Any location I set always gets two sets tho if it's good enough in my mind for one then it's getting two.

I hear ya on those lease roads. Tough ground but they sure make good travel ways.

I only use walk-throughs and dirtholes. The terrain decides for me which goes in. I pretty much just walk into the area, stand still and look around a minute, and let my gut tell me where a trap should go and then the type of set is dictated by what’s already naturally there.
