Anyone had one? Vickie has shoulder surgery on Wednesday so she had to have a covid test today.
All they told her is "no news is good news"
I just wonder how long it takes for test results.
Anyone know?

It took them about 30 hours from when I had mine to get a email saying I was positive. Other people I know would take 72 hours.

I’ve heard it depends on the test. The shorter the time the less accurate it is

It depends on the version of the test and how backed up the lab is that they are using. we can get them back in 40 minutes if we need to know the answer now and we have rapid tests still available, but the standard can take 1 to 2 wees to get results when we are out of rapids.

Friend had one done last Fri. at 2:00 PM. She got a call 9:00 AM Sun. it was negative. She was told they prioritize callbacks with positive results relayed sooner than negative.

Depends on a lot of circumstances. I had 2 tests done, both pre op, and the testing was done by my medical service provider in house. Had the results back in less than 24 hours both times.

Think about it.......they are gonna cut on you in the next day or so.....you think they want a week old test result?

My wife, daughter and I all got tested. Mouth swab. Said 24 to 72 hours. We got the results back in less then 24.
Wife and I both positive and our 16 year old daughter was negative.

The COVID-19 positivity rate in Utah is now 15%. In Arizona, the positivity rate has increased over the last 7 days from 3.8% to 7.3%. Nevada is at 21%; you get the picture, we're heading in the wrong direction. The Administration has flooded the market with Antigen tests, which detect a capsid protein on the virus but not the virus itself, they are not diagnostic tests; they are surveillance tests. They are only approved for use under FDA EUA for 'the first 5 days of active infection'...that means that a negative is NOT a negative result. the ONLY diagnostic test for COVID-19 is a PCR test. If you have an Antigen test and you get a negative result, don't assume you are negative, especially if you have symptoms; get a PCR test to be sure. If you're positive by an Antigen test and you have symptoms, you're probably positive. But, if you have no symptoms and you're positive, get a PCR test to be sure. The point here is that Antigen tests have a lot of false positives (just ask the NY Jets who had 17 players test positive by Antigen tests only to test negative by PCR) and false negatives. Why false negatives with claimed sensitivity of 98%? Because the sensitivity of the test directly depends on the lower lower limit of sensitivity. As an analogy, if you put one COVID-19 virus particle or one fish in a swimming pool, the PCR test will detect it. If you put 10,000 virus particles/fish in the pool, the Antigen test will not detect it, not 50,000 fish, not 75,000 fish, but it would take a minimum of 100,000 virus particles or fish to be positive. In other words, the Antigen test is 98% sensitive when 100,000 fish are present. This is why at the super-spreader event at the White House that people tested 'negative' when they were really positive. Be certain what test is being used on you or your family, because 150 million of the Antigen tests are flooding the market to give you a result, whether accurate or not, in 15 minutes. You can get a PCR result in less than 24 hours. I'm sharing this guidance, because we are heading for a tough time over the next 5 months with a second resurgence that is predicted to be more significant than the initial pandemic, which was bad enough. We are in much better shape from a testing capability standpoint, hospital capability, treatments, etc, and a vaccine is on the way, but no one can predict the efficacy of the vaccine. The resurgence is forecasted to peak at the end of January. While the Administration has put Antigen testing in Long Term Care, where ii is absolutely the wrong test to use in our most vulnerable population, the Biden Administration will likely shut the entire country down, which could result in an economic depression. We need a balance between these two positions, because everyone is going to be exposed to COVID-19. Your best protection is a mask, physical distancing, and taking Vitamin D (nearly all hospitalized COVID-19 patients are deficient in Vitamin D). This is not meant to be a political statement, it's meant to give you information to power your decisions as we confront the resurgence. As the vaccines become available, you will need a COVID-19 Antibody test, most likely a new quantitative antibody test, which we should offer in the next 30-60 days. It will tell you if you have had the virus, what level of immunity you may have, and whether you are a candidate for the vaccine. Tight lines to all at Lake Powell. Be safe. Best regards, Dave Dexter, CEO for Sonora Quest Laboratories.

This is some info from another site that I frequent, might be helpful to some of you, might not. This is from a couple weeks ago.

If covid is such a threat as everyone says anything over 24 hours is unacceptable. My take on is it’s not as serious as the news is hyping

That number is under serious dispute. It was modified downwards by the CDC.

Don't make any difference what the number is. Its a lot of people dead. A lot more than normal.
Remember back in march when they started keeping track of the numbers?
Some of you claimed that 60,000 people die from the flu every year. So this covid thing was hogwash.
What say you now?

I'd say your name here on TMan says what you think everyone should say.

I don't think it is hogwash. I do think it has been used more for political gain than to protect people. We have enough information from other countries who had longer lockdowns and mask mandates to make comparisons to the US. Of course more people are concerned with feelings than finding the truth.

Elections aren't won by telling the truth when it helps your opponent.

They said 400,000 will be dead by Xmas. Not so much now. In the beginning they didn’t know what the virus was. Now they have a better understanding of it. Yes it is sad people have died. But look. Less then 2.5 percent of total cases have died. That is really good. A lot of people have been saved. Better to look at the positive then the negative
