In our lives we hear a lot of things that is just not so, many times the gullible eat it up and sometimes those not so gullible are fooled too. Many times if we try out some things we start to see things that just don't fit. I mean like if we ask Santa Clause for some traps and he brings a croquet set instead? Well he must be real everyone says he is so I must have miscommunicated my request. Oh well there is always next year. And then I question just where does the Easter Bunny stay the rest of the year when he is not on the job?

Really though I have a serious question. All my life I have heard that if you desire to catch a monkey you simply drill a hole in an anchored down coconut with a hole in it and put in some rice or a piece of banana and the monkey will get a fist full and cannot pull his hand out with out releasing the goods. And since he won't turn loose one can easily walk up to him and restrain him.

I have heard that many times coming from the pulpit, but I doubt any of the speakers have actually ever even seen a monkey in the wild, nor have I, but thought someone on here may have first hand experience and could clear that up.

Never heard that about a Monkey

But a coon and a shiny object I've heard!

I've heard it about raccoon, too. I haven't ever tried it. Like you, I'm skeptical.

Bound by everlasting bands?
None shall take thee
From the Strength of Israel's hands.

Fact.

When I was a kid, I saw them catch monkeys, in a similar way, with holes in a wall, with food in them, on "Wild Kingdom" or "Wild World of Animals".

You can catch baboons in a similar way.

Pretty neat how that native captured and used the baboon to find water. Very ingenious!

The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

I like that about finding water too. Why wear yourself out looking for it when the locals will show you.

Thanks for the replies. I have heard preachers tell that years ago, long before Al Gore invented the internet, lol. Funny how some things told are true and some things we have to sort the wheat from the chaff. Some times we can consider the source until proven other wise anyway.
