Biden and Harris have repeatedly stated that they plan to totally eliminate fossil fuel in the future. Everything will be electric powered by green energy such as solar. Can you imagine solar-powered military tanks, aircraft, etc? I wouldn't fly across town in an electric plane. Electric cars in cold climates would be crazy! Using your heater would reduce battery charge much faster than in warm climates. If you use your electric-powered car when it's -20 degrees, you'd be lucky to go 100 miles before it dies on you.

It seems the practical thing to do if pollution is such a big issue is to make fossil fuel by products less toxic. In my area, the city buses run on propane because it's more fuel efficient and less harmful to the environment.

Don't sweat it. You won't need to fly on airplanes. Won't need army tanks in a utopia all is peace. You won't need big tractors to farm, a hoe will suffice. You won't have any spare time to need boats , four wheelers and such. Your time will all be spent working on your counties collective farm. Unemployment will be 0%.

Right and it shouldn't be that hard to convince all these other countries like Russia, Iran, China, etc, that all is peace and a new utopia. Soylent Green, the movie comes to mind. The government decides when you do everything, even dying.

If somebody promises something in the future. It means they really are not going to do it.

A lot of my clients are in the oil industry and I can tell you they are worried. If the communists win the senate race in GA we are hooped. For future reference they should no longer be referred to as Democrats or Liberals, they are communists pure and simple. Dave Rubin explained it well this morning. AOC +3 are the driving force behind the party now, and they are communists.

I understood what you were saying Dirt. Promises are easy to make and don't really cost anything.

Not only will we lose energy independence but we will have to rely on other countries, including China, for battery storage:

This is a list of countries by lithium mine production in 2019.[1]

Lithium mine production (tonnes)
Rank Country 2018 2019
1 Australia Australia 58,800 42,000
2 Chile Chile 17,000 18,000
3 China China 7,100 7,500
4 Argentina Argentina 6,400 6,400
5 Zimbabwe Zimbabwe 1,600 1,600
6 Portugal Portugal 800 1,200
7 Brazil Brazil 300 300
8 Namibia Namibia 500

well, at least we know China's lithium mines are all green-certified as environmentally friendly...

Trending away from fossil fuels gradually is not a bad thing, and over the period of the next few decades I think we will become less and less dependent on oil. It’s not possible to do today but it will be in the future. The technology will be developed and I think it would be a wise to provide scientists and physicists With the resources to work on it.

40 years ago if someone had told you about iPhones and all the technology we have now you’d have laughed them out of town. Now you’re doing the same to the people who say that we won’t need oil in the future. Very closed minded. Nobody is going to end oil overnight. Or even over a decade. The jobs lost will be replaced by different jobs. You don’t think electric service stations will need maintenance or construction workers? You don’t think that the power plants/solar/wind/ whatever we come up with will need laborers monitoring and maintaining them?

If you don’t think green renewable energy will be viable and efficient in the future you are a fool.

Exactly. Not to mention China's coal-fired plants that are supposedly around 2,000 and looking at building many more. Compare that to the US who has 12 and will be closing two more. But, we are the country that is destroying the world with our disregard for a cleaner environment.

I don't think anyone suggested that we should stop working on renewable energy, but even the term " renewable energy" isn't accurate. When you stop listening to the media and use the brains god gave you and do some research you will quickly learn that green energy isn't very green. I could give you many examples but I will let you figure them out for yourself. I know a guy who owns a company that builds wind farms and this is how he puts it, " until a windmill or a solar panel can build themselves you have nothing." Its true too, without oil we couldnt build and maintain those things.

If you think its a good idea to lose our energy independence you are a fool. I suggest you read the book, "The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels."

I have a small solar system at my trapline that consists of two 12-volt solar batteries, one 100-watt solar panel, and an inverter. All told that little system cost me $1000 for the batteries, around $800 for the inverter, and another $1000 for the inverter/charger. I run one 5 watt light and a sat radio. Sometimes I charge things like cameras etc. That system still requires me to run a generator every couple days to charge the batteries. The entire system will eventually need to be replaced so it isn't renewable at all. Then for comparison consider this. Last year I bought a 2000 watt Yamaha generator for about $1600. On eco mode one tank of fuel will last a week. From a financial standpoint the generator wins hands down.
