Rural areas furnish cities with raw resources, The cities manufacture and produce products from these raw resources. Its a very symbiotic relationship.

More like a parisite - host relationship ---- time to free us of a few parasites so that we can function again.

Too many people unsophisticated nowadays.
Definition of sophisticated-wise in the ways of the world.
Lots of people are born, live.and die without travelling or experiencing other cultures and lifestyles.Insulated within their own little world.
Very sad really, and not about to get any better in the future.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Pike, I thiink Yukon hit the nail on the head. Bout everything comes from china. Not much I need to build my products come from the cities, most is imported, and that bothers me greatly. The steel supliers that are mostly located in the cities, import more than anything, so you have no say, and if you specify domestic, the price is out of reach! I get what your saying, but cities in the US don't produce anything in the amounts of stuff they did before the dims shipped all the jobs out of country.

Glad you caught it Lee...I wasn't being sarcastic (like usual). Once we are dependent on foreign countries again, the working class, and farmers/ranchers will suffer. And city folk will be none the wiser!

I am living on the family farm that's been passed down for 135 years and hopefully all 4 of my children will continue to live here and raise their kids. My kids help feed the cattle, horses and chickens. Our town is small only 5,000 people with no red light but it's still amazing how many kids even around here are not being taught anything except video games

I think one of the issues that is driving the wedge between us, is when one side starts to say their way is the absolute truth and they start trying to force everyone to live their way. The majority isn't always correct

My brother once had a girlfriend that thought they brought those hay bails in and put them in the fields. Yup, that relationship didn't last long. That was about 15 years ago.

The alternative to them living in cities is for them to live closer to me. No thanks.

If you're interested in something the information is available.

A good portion of my customers are actually farmers. All be it people with larger farms. I was not saying that we should starve them to death. Just a bit of educational hunger would do them well. For me the world is a big mechanic set. I am just as happy fixing farm equipment and tractors. So if I did not meet another city dweller as of today, I would not go hungry. So Nope I don't need them.

The only thing I get from the city is grief.

If the the big bridges fell into the bay, I would be all smiles until they rebuilt them, especially this time of year.

I used to enjoy driving the bridges tunnels into Norfolk on 13 if I remember the route number correctly

This thread made me curious so,

New York

https://www.nam.org/state-manufacturing-data/2019-new-york-manufacturing-facts/

Now this is for the state so would be hard to convince me that the rural areas aren't where most of this happens the cities just move money these days.

Now Ohio

A few years back, my nephew ( a Carnegie Mellon student ), wanted to visit a coal mine and go underground. I obliged him...but what I found most interesting was that he had never seen a mobile home till that day. He’s from one of the wealthiest suburbs in the country, and had never seen a house trailer. ( there were lots of them in the county where we were mining )
