Have a lot of squirrels here. After a ton of searching, is there a preferred method to handle the fur to get top dollar for their pelt? I know a few cents on the dollar but something is better than nothing. We have melanistic grey squirrels here as well. Pretty animal.

First time trapper and would like to get more info.

Thanks!
Ryan

Yes! I am well aware of the Mepps incentive.Thought it may be more valuable to case skin and sell the pelt. Looking for more information specifically on how to fur handle and and excellent gateway into bigger furbearers.

I grew up reading FFG and had always wanted to trap however being in a suburban/urban area where there is not a ton of public land to lay steel, here I am. I figured start small and work my way up to bigger animals as I learn. I am an avid bowhunter looking for new challenges outdoors.

Kevin C, I'll look up in the book to define what's legal and what isnt. Public school teacher and I go by the rules. Thanks!

Classified as a small game animal, with a season and bag limit. Can’t be trapped, unfortunately

Thanks! Being so close to the city, we have few places to take small game on public land. Closest place may be 45 mins away or so for small game?

Again, young(er) fella trying to abide by the rules, enjoy the outdoors, and learn as I go. Ill try to snap some pics of the squirrels we have here. Melanistic (black) and gorgeous animals. Maybe one day I can move into harvesting bigger stuff.
